Chubby Motorola Charm now available on T-Mobile

General

The Motorola Charm, a pudgy little Android handset we first heard about in July, is now available for purchase on T-Mobile. Here is a quick recap of what the Charm is working with: quad-band GSM, HSDPA 3.6 Mbps, 3 megapixel camera, Wi-Fi b/g/n, Bluetooth, GPS, and 2.8-inch touchscreen display; the device will also be sporting Motorola’s MOTOBLUR UI overlay. The full-QWERTY, candy bar shaped phone can be yours — in a red cabernet or golden bronze — for just $74.99 with a 2-year contract. The two links are after the jump.

    This phone should be free.

    • tom

$74.99 without contract is better IMO.

  • michael scott

    It didn’t give me a chub…its fugly.

    • Maik

      Just like your girlfriend.

      • michael scott

        That’s Mom to you.
Now go back to your room.

      • Jouten

        pwned! Zing!

  • iphone > Droid

And to your left you will see why TeenMobile is the last place major carrier….moving on

    • hmmm

you’re right, you probably can’t even hold this phone without it dropping a call

      • iphone > droid

Probably can’t find service to connect a call with TEENmobile. And if you do find it, i bet it still drops.

as i will always and forever point out: had this mid-level phone came out on t-mobile, you’d have at least 4 – 6 comments already about ‘this is why t-mo is #4′. ”

thanks for proving how typical and predictable of a troll most of you are. i bet your mom had to schedule ‘sexy time’ with whoever (or whichever) your dad is in order to get pregnant with you.

better yet, thanks for making that comment about the charm and tmobile like nearly 2 months after all your troll butt buddies already made that comment.

      Jeeeesus you are obnoxious.

So every seen needs a $200 megaphone with an expensive plan?

GTFO of here. At least this phone doesn’t need a bumper and you can hold it any way you want.

For some reason, I really want to try this thing out

    • Mitch

You aren’t the only one, I am strangely intrigued by it.

I just hate the fact that it has Blur on the device. Stock Android for me, or Sense if I had to have one.

  • T-Mobile is the best

Why are you calling it TeenMobile, like, really? Who even does that anymore? Because I wanna know. T-Mobile is the best carrier out there. And their phones are to keep you connected with your family, and that kinda phone seems perfect for that, so even though its fugly, that’s what its for. And I see you’re with AT&T because you said iPhone is better than Droid, and if AT&T hadn’t have gotten the iPhone, T-Mobile would’ve been waaay ahead of AT&T

    • skyy_flyer

Really? T-Mobile overtake ATT? I’m no fanboy of any company but I think it is a safe bet to say that Verizon and ATT will always be the big two to beat by Sprint and T-Mobile and US Cellular. Coverage alone ensures those two have more market saturation and are able to reach more people than the other 3.

    • cellphoneguy

T-mobile doesn’t currently have as many customers as Cingular did pre iphone. T-mobile is doing good things with hspa but they just launched 3g a year ago. I am not really biased to one carrier or another but to say Tmo would be ahead of At&t is like saying if Toyota didn’t come out with the Camry the Hyundai Elantra would be way ahead…… Not realistic. Voice Stream sucked and so did omnipoint. thats why Tmobile sucks. They are getting together but not quite there. ( I think they are considerably better than Sprint) Now for the onslaught of FANDROIDS to dislike my comment…..

It’s a good phone if you’re moving from blackberry and still want a hardware keyboard. We need more phones like this as an option to landscape keyboards. My wife loves her Charm. It’s cheaper up here on Telus.

    • Jouten

I want to buy the Telus branded one so I can use it on AT&T but I can’t figure out how to get one…

  • No Soup For You

My 11 year old niece told me she saw Justin Bieber using this phone in his latest video.

    She wants one now.

  • J.P Michaels

they couldn’t pay me enough to use another Moto product

    • Mercado

I firmly believe Motorola has higher quality than HTC. I have owned several HTC’s from the Eris to the Mogul and they were all P.O.S. that you could tell were very cheaply made. A phone should feel solid in your hand and you shouldn’t be afraid that dropping it was going to shatter the crappy plastic shell like an egg.

      • cellphoneguy

I think the opposite. From my experience Motorola devices are junk. Ive had really good experiences with my PPC and Android devices from HTC. Motorola makes lame ugly phones that always have issues. Moto Q, Cliq, Backflip and Devour. Droid(s) and X look and feel better but I dont trust em.

  • serpentor

so what if this is for tweens. they need phones too and if you’re a parent would you get them a $200 superphone and $30/month data or $75 phone and $15/month data?

    • Swap Meet Louie

      Finally! Somebody who gets it!

Phones like this and the Gravity and other messaging type phones are big time bread and butter for the carriers. And all you so called “techies” who make fun of them, better be thanking the carriers that they sell them. Because they sell so well and help keep the costs of other phones down, and allow T-Mo to have their neverending “Buy 1 Get 27 Free” sales on their higer end Androids and such.

Most teens and tweens don’t give a crap about “App Markets” and “Tethering” They just want to send each other text messages.

  • Jouten

    I…Want…One…

    • tech junkie for life

      Chubby….chaser…..

      • Swap Meet Louie

        “Chubby….chaser….”

….Now that was pretty damn funny LOL

  • Mercado

It’s probably going to be a hot seller with the female group as it looks like it could fit in a purse or jeans easily. My wife always complains that her iPhone drops calls and also is a pain to bring on a night out.

  • toursux

Go get an HTC Legend and then tell me that there phones feel cheap!!

  • Titon

Ilove tmbile for there rates and cuetomer service been 8 years now with them but I have to admit they better get the bwll rolling with a$$ phones cause the waaaaaay behind prsonql opinion the charm will choke just like the garmin phone both are garbage phones.

  • antiatnt

Love Tmob, at&t was the worst. Had phone for the 24 months and then wanted to kill off sucky phone, but WAIT at&t stated i was not done with my contract. BS. AT&T SUCKS. TMOB has always been on my side and did a trip LBC to San Diego today and did not drop one call. Love my MOTO Cliq XT but want qwerty vs. droid swipe. that was the only thing i liked about blackberry. Keep in mind, AT&T sucks and their CS SUCKS, the cheating and theft of my money was worse. GO TMOB, but you still need to put a site at eldorado park near wardlow road in LBC, CA.

  • Hold up wait! My EVO has super powers!
