Windows Phone 7 browsing experience gets video walkthrough

General

It looks like the chaps over at PocketNow got their hands on the LG GW910 complete with Windows Phone 7. The device, which recently crossed the FCC’s desk, is a full-QWERTY slider that we don’t really know all that many details about. The PocketNow gang didn’t shed any additional light on the handsets spec sheet, although they did take the time to shoot a 10-minute video detailing and comparing what the browser experience will be like on a WP7 device. The video notes (several times) that the hardware and software on the GW910 is not final, but you can get a general feel of what Internet Explorer mobile will look and feel like. If you’re considering a Windows Phone 7 handset upon launch — or if you want to mindlessly flame on another handset, showing everyone just how big of a tool you actually are — hit the jump… we have the video all ready for you.

” or if you want to mindlessly flame on another handset, showing everyone just how big of a tool you actually are ”

Andrew you actually made me laugh with that comment!

    Too funny!

Where’s Walter, he should be salivating and panting at this.

Would like to have seen the BB Torch included in that comparison also..

      For laughs?

the browser may be fine, but look how much more impressive the hardware of the iOS and androird handsets are

    • MicroNix

Yes, I’m sorry but the Win7 device looks like something out of the late 90s. Like someone had some spare parts and started dumping them together. Too bad they had such an ugly phone to demo on.

    • quiz

you don’t have speakers? he told you its just a demo device, its not the actual hardware. you really think Microsoft would release its new OS on something that looked like that after all that work to modernize the OS? c’mon man.. think!

Not bad at all. For a beta version, this seems like a very good start. The only thing that I don’t like is that the bottom toolbar as well as the top take up a lot of your screen real estate.

Can’t believe the iPhone beat the nexus one, the iPhone doesn’t even have a 1GHz CPU.

    • John

Beats it at what? It only loads a partial page in the time the other phones lead almost the entire page.

      • Davis

That’s true, but smarter in my opinion. If it actually had to download the rest of the page once you scrolled down that would be ridiculous. If doing it that way makes performance seem THAT much smoother, it’s worth the .001 seconds it normally takes to show the rest of the page when you scroll down.

the iphone 4 does use a 1ghz a4 processor like the ipad… it is down clocked though to conserve on battery.

this phone would’ve been a great sidekick

    • zee

      let me guess…..you are a #la#k wanabe.

  • bob

the browser is irrelevant.. even if were better… which it’s not.
because wp7 is a butt ugly monstrosity that should have crap-canned along with kin

  • Sean

I like this so far it looks pretty good I started out with a sony clie with palm os and from that moved to a hp pocket pc on winmo from that various htc devices with winmo and finaly the g1 so as of now dont know if I want to go with w7 or the g2

I don’t know why so many of you Nexus One owners and Fanboys are getting so butt-hurt about this vid.

Didn’t you know that the person who made this vid is the Great Grandson of the guy who concocted the Magic Bullet Theory that offed JFK.

    See…..you can feel better already!

  • Davis

It actually looks pretty good. Look at that gross Android scrolling/zooming/etc though. I hate that. That’s the main reason I’ve not wanted an android phone. Even the ones with the beastly specs aren’t smooth. Why is that? :/

  • Cingulair

    @John,

    I agree

    Posted from BGR Mobile (iPhone).

  • MicroNix

Look at the browser screens @ 6:22. Unbelievable how much more of the web page displays on the Nexus One than either iPhone or W7.

  • Mike

Browser looks pretty good. Won’t consider it until it gets a bunch more apps (well….and copy and paste)

  • Danny Houston (T-Mobile RSA)

I love the UI. Windows 7 phone series is gonna be amazing if you ask me. Just think if companies using windows phone now implement this software on future products. Zune IMO (which all of this is by the way just my opinion) is a great and needed feature and this browser just looks absolutely gorgeous. The speed of the browser though…. Well lets just hope this really isn’t how the final version will be hahah!

  • Claudia

I like the OS i didnt at first. I cant believe it dosent have cut and paste which being a windows phone is complete madness. And can anyone shed some light on if this WM7 will have YouTube or not?
