I bet Steve jobs wont sleep today. At last we have a ipad killer. Good job Samsung. Keep it up. I can’t imagine what will happen to apple as a company in 3 years. Dump AAPL now.

    • phoghat

In 3 years Apple will have come out with a phone that embeds in your skull.

      • motofooker

        or you nut

      • http://www.absolutefiction.com [rono]

        Oh sure.

    • Jason

Yes of course, bc Apple will reverse trend from the last ten years and remain a relatively static company from now on. Come on man do you honestly think this will kill the iPad?

Good luck finding decent apps for the 7″ screen that actually UTILIZE it. I’ll wait for 7″ iPad before I purchase another tablet,

iPad killer? In what sense? You think the majority of people are going to buy this over the iPad? The point of a 9.7″ display is that it’s big enough to type on, like a normal keyboard. iPad is also getting iOS 4, I don’t see how this will even make a dent in iPad sales. At this point Samsung is throwing a pebble into an expanding lake, soon to be river-> ocean-> and eventually Sea.

Rumors also say 7″ iPads are coming. You know what that means? Those who would choose the Galaxy Tab because of the 7″ screen, will now have a 7″ iPad option.

I can’t wait for Samsung to unveil this tablet at IFA Berlin!

I wish others would stop copying Apple. iTV is in the works. I guess Galaxy TV is up next for Samsung :-)

    • motofooker

because apple never copies anyone. oh no, NOT APPLE!

      • http://www.absolutefiction.com [rono]

I actually cannot remember any product that they came out with on their own. They mostly improved on existing designs and made them cute. Starting with the mouse on the first Mac.

      • Cold Dead Fingers

How about the Apple I consumer computer? Ever heard of that? They were one of the pioneers in consumer computers.

Madia player with a touchscreen? iPod Touch?

        Phone with a touchscreen?

There is no such thing as creating a new product anymore. It’s all about integrating new technologies in modern devices. That’s called innovation.

This thing looks kick ass if wifi tether from my hd2 running android that screen would be amazing on super amoled it looks like it I can handle it with one hand I’d take a wifi only model

  • ckeegan

If it’s not LTE capable, then my wallet stays put.

    • Creamy Tuna Casserole

Does the teaser say anything about LTE or Verizon Wireless? Obvious facts are obvious.

Whoa Nelly. What’s the PRICE? That makes all the difference. If it’s $199 or cheaper without contract, I’m possibly excited. If it’s $299 or $399, it’s going to be facing stiff competition from Apple’s 7-incher. Tell me the processor speed and the price — for all I know, that showy hand could be holding the new Kindle.

I’m excited to see how this plays out. I’m looking for a tablet device but any such device that I will find useful will need to have the ability to be used standalone without the need to “sync” it to another computer for the most basic functionality. I can live with the syncing requirement for a phone (I use an iPhone) since I have no need for frequent device updates with things like pictures, videos, documents etc. With a tablet however, I need it to have some external connectivity or at the very least have the ability to copy files to and from without needing special software (requires a file system accessible by applications running on the OS). This is where the iPad falls WAY short for me (and why I think people tend to call it a giant iTouch). To illustrate my point: I come home from a trip with camera in hand, want to go to the backyard to go over my pictures, a tablet form factor is ideal but having to first transfer the files to a computer, then sync really defeats the purpose for me. Why even bother with the tablet at that point, easier to just grab the lap top and save an annoying step.

Here’s to hoping that either this or other future tables will have a more open and less restrictive implementation.

They can make whatever they want, but if it doesn’t have the proper OS, it’s useless. No book store, crappy apps etc. It’s not the device, it’s what it can do/ offer and how well.

  • Steve Jobs

I’d buy it for 99, with no contract. Android is trash and worth about as much as a graphic calculator

  • apple_sux

this is great and should do well…

    i don’t understand the draw to the ipad…..with it’s crippled o/s and 10lb weight…..

the dell streak is prob a better bet than the crappad.

    • Jason

Have fun with Android 1.6! Not only will Apple fan boys make fun of you, but also all your Android friends using HTCs ane Motos!

    • Cold Dead Fingers

iPad weighs 1.5lb and will be running the latest build of iOS, while this will be at 1.6, with the other flurry of 1.6 devices. Even the iPad launched with a more advanced OS than the iPhone/iPod

      • davisbs999

hey fingers, did you even bother to read about the device before posting/hating? the samsung tab will be released with 2.2. It’s the dell streak that is on 1.6. I don’t get haters. I would never go trolling in a forum about an apple product just because I prefer android devices. Lame!

  • confron111

Don’t forget the pos network Crapple is on.

    Long live Android!!!

  • Blackberry Bold

I am not sure about this…
Also, I have a feeling that it will be on AT&T.

    • davisbs999

Man, I sure hope that you are wrong about the at&t bit. It would be great if they, like apple did with the iPad, offer a WIFI only version. I would think that many people in the market for this tab already have a smartphone that they could use for tethering

  • pippi-spedsi

Apple will be out of business by end of 2012.

    • zack

I’m willing to put money against that. What say you?

  • you_monster

    Very nice looking device!

  • Firefight16

I wouldn’t trust Samsung for watching HD video, I own a 800 Samsung tv and they support very few codecs, and they don’t do any software updates.

  • http://flavors.me/alexiaj Alexia

I was going to purchase the ipad, but I think I’m going to wait until this is released. This looks a whole lot better… Maybe the price tag will be as well. :)

  • http://www.absolutefiction.com [rono]

    Good for you Samsung.
A design that improves on Apple.
Now Stevo has another reason to blow a gasket.
    It’s only the beginning.
