nokia were the first to make smartphones.

Why would anybody buy this crappy phone with all this hot ass phone out there?

    • Fly On The Wall

Probably cause they are cheap and not everybody needs a hot ass phone that they will never bother to learn how to use just so they can write about them on the internet

Besides. real men own Monster Trucks as a substiture for a Small Johnson.

      The rest buy expensive phones.

woah!! a “music-centric” phone with 16gb expandable (LOL) and FM radio!!

    *pre-orders 5 units*

I supoose if Samsung can keep making their Crappy Gravity Phones amongst the other low end crappy phones they make, then Nokia has the right to make crappy low end phones too.

Like the Gravity’s these will fill a niche as well. Not everyone wants a $100 a month cell phone bill.

    • naughty_nicky

But you can get some of the other high end phones for pennies (on amazon) and no, noone is forcing you to get data or txt plan with ANY phone. If you’re too stupid/gullible enough to believe that you have to, then you deserve paying $100/mo cell phone bill. Call your carrier and ask them for data & text opt out.

      • Topher86

Yet you’re gullible enough to believe that a penny attached to a two year contract is a good buy compared to a $150 Nokia smart phone off contract? There’s a big difference between having to pay a monthly bill, regardless the price, for two years, and being able to go month to month on whichever GSM carrier you chose to have.

        Month to month>two year service…

  • Johnny Ringo

What high end phones are you going to get on Amazon for pennies?

Amazon sells the high end “penny” phones with service contracts of which just like buying from the carrier, you are going to get stuck with a data plan whether you want it or not, because it’s the deal for buying a subsidized phone which make no mistake the high end phones for .99 on Amazon areare. They are tied in with the carriers. Sames as Wirefly and the rest.

Amazon also sells unlocked devices and has some very good deals, but you know as well as I do the overwhelming majority of Americans do not buy unlocked phones.

  • Johnny Ringo

Nobody is saying this is an awesome phone cause it obviously isn’t. It’s a budget phone. Thats all. But somebody who doesn’t need an awesome phone, can pick up this or something like this on Amazon for probably One Benjamin without a contract, slip in a AT&T or T-Mobile Sim Card and start calling and texting for the lowest price possible without comitting to a two year contract.

Again, no great shakes, but phones like these fill a niche and still sell. If they didn’t companies still wouldn’t be making them.

  • Fly On The Wall

You have to remember that these types of phones are produced and marketed primarily for countries other than America where people might not have the disposable income or choose not to spend their disposable income on high end phones and the plans they require.

There’s no surprise that people living in a counrty where they’ll pay $5.00 for a cup of coffee would not even be remotely interested in a phone like this.

Screen size and camera aside, this phone sounds like it has better specs than the BlackBerry Torch. And Symbian is better than Blackberry 6.

    Sym^1 = FAIL

No Qt software. Next year when Sym*4 comes out, this will be a dead duck.

    Granted, it’s a 100EUR phone, but still.

Those 100EUR Androids *can* be upgraded.

    Nokias Symbian phones can’t.

    • Sebastian Brannstrom

Qt is absolutely supported on S^1.
