HTC Windows Phone 7 device pictured, headed to AT&T

General

It looks like the Windows Phone 7 stork will be making plenty of deliveries to AT&T when the OS if officially released. Engadget was sent another image of this HTC semi-sliding, Windows Phone 7 device… and it looks pretty sexy. As you can see, the device partially slides out in the landscape orientation to reveal not a keyboard, but a large speaker. The device, which is currently being called the T8788, is also reported to have a kickstand on the back; making this puppy seem pretty media-centric. What do you think of the sliding speaker? You like?

Hah ! Stay away from HTC, once they sell you their products, you don’t hear from them anymore.

Anybody with HTC Incredible, Aria, etc. will see Froyo next year (maybe not)

It is crazy how one man can crank out an new release for an HTC phone days after it’s code is released, but it takes HTC(and huge teams of people) months.
evo owners think thats how its gonna be, nope 2.2 will be all for them.

      EVO 4g says hai!!

    Oh HELL YEAH!

    anyone else miss physical buttons?

Idk, call me a fool, but static touch controls on a phone with a static touch screen doesn’t make sense aesthetically. I hate accidentally pressing that shit.

Then don’t get a touch screen stupid.

Sweet, a giant speaker. Just what cell phones need so that people can be even louder and more annoying when they decide they don’t feel like using headphones on public transportation or want a soundtrack for their trip through the grocery store.

Well that’s a nice Droid 2. I never thought I’d see the day that HTC copied (or looked to have copied) a Motorola design…

You’re kidding right? If anything this is the Tilt2 or European TP2 form factor. If anything the Droid2 ripped off the look from HTC since this look came out last summer. Nice, but nothing to scream over. I think HTC can copy from better devices than the Droid. No offense to Droid owners.

I’m not a fan of QWERTY keyboards, but this design would make sense with regards to listening to music (as opposed to having to purchase a dock as with the ipod), and it would probably enhance the Xbox gaming experience especially if the speaker is a ‘stereo’ speaker of sorts.

speaker looks lame. like the built in projector on that samsung, Its better when a company just builds a solid elegant device rather than gettin all gimicky on us.

Sweet phone. It looks different than the rest. Each OS has its own pros and cons. Windows 7 phones will shine again.

looked perfect until I saw the, sliding speaker? WTF is up with that?

  • punaner

Whats up with the photoshop coloring on the bezel? Looks like a frilly backflip weenie phone. Kickstand is cool. But slide out speakers? Neh. Might as well have a qwerty board with speakers on the back.

i love it ,after the evo this is the one to have.

  • Chellykay88

I love HTC and I’ve always really liked WinMo but alas I bought the iPhone4 6 weeks ago… This phone looks super sexy though

  • jgirgi2

it kinda looks like a droid 2 knockoff

I think the speaker is a great idea. Everyone always complains about the speaker quality when playing music and listening to videos. This will take care of those problems.

bah…another unremarkable phone witha big screen and a slideout speaker…wow. Seriously the only thing this is going to do is allow teenagers to annoy the f&%$ out of everyone else even more effectively by blaring shitty rap on the subway.

Anyone notice that nobody is pushing design? nothing new, no innovation…its a qwerty slider without the keyboard and if you aske me all teh droid 2s, EVOs etc all look the same and mostly boring. Apple has got this one pwned.

    Looks like a battery hog

Saw the design. Nice! Then I saw the speaker and all I managed to muster was a big WTF. Since I am almost positively getting a WP7 device (unless android or Iphone can step it up) I might go with the LG Panther or the C900 just because it’s nice to have the option of a physical qwerty. I never owned a touchscreen only device but my friends tell me that you come to miss actually feeling the buttons after awhile

The WM7 is going to be the best phone ever to wipe your asshole with, after taking a big massive shit. Saves you paper! ;-D
