Yahoo! News: Google Goggles to iPhone by year's end

General

Today, Google announced that they would bring their Goggles application to Apple’s iOS. Speaking at the Hot Chips conference at Stanford University, Goggles’ project lead David Petrou noted that the application would come to the iPhone before the end of 2010. Petrou also detailed the possibility of an open API for the image search application and potential opening of Goggles up to third-party applications. Any Goggles users out there?

With the negative response to this application that I have seen earlier, I never bother to install it on my Incredible.

The translate feature is cool as all get out. Should be even better when they open up non-Roman characters.

    • Steve-O Jobz

Your Evo probably can get voice and data reception too. Another feature the iPhone does not have.

  • fred

Yay for them! A very worthless app. Unless maybe you live in one of the city’s that AT&T sucks in.

  • Joe Buck

Who wants Google’s worst apps? Not this guy. Android can have this garbage

    • David

Yes. Because this means you are forced to install it.

  • PAPINYC

    Yes Sir, Steve-O Jobz !
And, I don’t need wi-fi to make a video call.

    • Steve

Oh, so you use Fring then?

The same Fring that can be installed on any iPhone 4?

      What’s your point again?

  • blah

Goggles is pretty damn amazing… I hope a 3-rd party dev can make an app called Beer Goggles, that can scan a gal and let ya know if she’s fugly or a babe, after you’ve had too much to drink.

  • patrick

Googles is pretty damn cool. Identifies things in foreign language, like imported groceries. Translate app is awesome. And the barcode scanner is one of the best. You can also take a picture of artwork and it can recognize more than you think. Soon to come will be face search. Lol

Are you kidding me i hate google, i have bing as my default search engine google is spying on me and wants to take over the freaki g world

  • Fasteddie7

I use the business card reader feature of goggles quite frequently and I love it. It’s also astro fun little app to show people at a party. The technology behind it will only get better and make for a very impressive, useful app as time goes on.

  • Joshie

I have it installed, played with it one night and then never thought about it again. What are some things it’s useful for?

  • dp

i wonder if it will actually work on an iphone?!?! sorry, i had to go there but this app just doesn’t work.
