Woman uses Galaxy S, SWYPE to break text messaging world record

A U.K. woman armed with a Samsung Galaxy S running the SWYPE keyboard has broken the Guinness World Record for text messaging. The 27-year old managed to swipe out the phrase: “the razor-toothed piranhas of the genera Serrasalmus and Pygocentrus are the most ferocious freshwater fish in the world. In reality they seldom attack a human,” in just under 26 seconds. The time bests the official record, held by a 24-year old American, by over nine seconds. As the Press Association reports, “Ms Thompson, who works for an insurance company, was shopping with her boyfriend, Chris Davies, 23, when they visited a Samsung roadshow and she was invited to have a go at breaking the record.” The woman’s feat has yet to be made official by the Guinness Book of World Records.

      I’m guessing you did it using your keyboard. I think that a program that doesn’t actually have you text a word or a phrase shouldn’t be allowed to be used. Give that American a go at it again using a program that automatically spells out every word with out you actually making the hand gestures…

    Like you JP I work at a mobile store and have both the iPhone 4 and Droid X. Still don’t understand all the fanboys taking specific carrier propaganda up their asses. I love both my phones and each system has their pros and cons. Their are merits in both and after having both I could not go back to just one or the other.

    Big whip I have speak to text/email on my iPhone 4. My message would be sent and retrieved by the time some one is done on swype. Not myself but I know I few chics that kill on the iPhone screen faster then anyone can swype. Good idea but to slow.

      Lmao if the iPhone is so much faster than swype then why hasn’t anyone broken the record with it.. And google voice recognition is better than yours :) and its auto baked into every app via the keyboard

    Who really cares about Swype?Having the world record on that is like who can breathe the most air. I can type faster using a physical keyboard without T9. Why would you want to relearn how to type anyways? Speech to text is the next big thing. In noisy areas, T9 with keyboard will beat Swype hands down!

      Nothing will beat swype.. And you dont relearn to type.. You just slide instead of press its easier less mistakes and faster than anything..

    speed is so over rated, its like listening to the side effects on a comercial for some drug thats supposed to make you feel better, but the drug can make that same symptom twice as bad. But they say it so fast you don’t even listen.
