Samsung Galaxy Tab seen in Australia, videoed

General

Today, the folks over at Electronista spied a Samsung Galaxy Tab at a train station near Sydney, Australia. The device was described (via a creepy over-the-shoulder video) as a 7-inch, Android tablet that was, as the owner put it, “awesome.” The video does not provide any additional detail on the unreleased device, but it does indicate that it is — in all likelihood — getting close to its release date. Hit the jump to watch the fifty second voyer-esk video.

Looks nice. I wonder what the price will be

    Ew, Touchwiz.

Looks slightly smaller than the Dell Streak

Still not sure the wide form factor is going to get it done. Sure I don’t have an iPad either so I don’t even know how that device feels. Turning your smart phone into landscape makes sense to me but I can’t say the same for a larger device. Who knows, these companies obviously have people smarter than I working for them. Something good must have come out of the focus groups because it is surely going to be a shipping product. Good luck Samsung.

Jarrett, please refrain from calling out hypocrites. As long as its not Apple its just fine.

      • Jarrett

Sorry. Thank you for checking me.

I think the tablet idea is stupid because no one needs a big ass smart phone.

I want one if the price is right. I get tired of waching stuff and ready things on my droid..Don’t want a ipad but want an android version

  • Rob Blum

@Jarrett, I’m sure it wasn’t very difficult for Samsung to hire people smarter than you.

    • Jarrett

Yes Rob, I believe I already commented to that. What you are suggesting is that they are either not very smart and that I am dumber. Or that they are extremely intelligent and I myself am just below that.

That problem with trying to be clever is that you actually need to be intelligent to pull it off. One out of two doesn’t cut it.

I “attempted” to read a book on my touch pro 2 last night, complete fail. The iPad is a bit too large to hold comfortably for any length of time (for me anyway), but watching that video of a guy holding it in one hand, seemed kinda cool. If I had money, I might just want one.

    @dude who recorded the video…

Your either a stalker or a extremely sick geek. I mean really dude, WTF? Who gives a F*ck, and why so stealthy about something that is not that important compared to all the other sh*t going on in the world. I’m so sick of this mentality and psycho-ness amongst you Gen-(Wh)Y-ers. Get F*cked you numb-skull and tune into infowars.com and save the Republic or your not gonna have an internet to connect your lil’ toy to. Geezus!!!

[o o]…what are you smoking and why is it making you so cranky?

    • me

@ all the chumps who clicked negative on my comments…

Your the Gen-Y asswipes I’m referring too; otherwise those with 1/2 a brain would agree and move on or click positive…. YOU MAKE ME SICK you un-empathetic, selfish, care only about yourselves and your pleasures- little fux!

  • earldeadsby

Those look awesome. I wonder where they get the ideas for their design?

  • non bias

can u make calls ? if so, i’ll take 2 pls.

  • Topher86

APPS!!! I’ll wait until at least a year after all these tablets come out to see how app developers take advantage of the huge screen real estate; that’s the only way I’ll see me being interested in a tablet device, because at the moment, it’s just a niche industry. What will we be able to do specifically on a tablet device that we can’t do on a smart phone, besides being bigger and flashier? After I see an answer, a legit answer, I’ll hop on board. Can’t wait!

Jarrett, I agree with Blum, not because of your initial comment but because of your reaction to his comment on your intelligence. These blogs are full of trolling losers that don’t deserve reaction to their mean spiritedness and off topic comments.

  • Bill Bligh

@me. You my friend are hilarious. I too have a beef with Gen Yers. They are so Apple-ish in everything they do. iPhones, ipads, MacBooks, enough to make me sick. Until they have a foxy lil dish on their arm, then I’m just jealous. Anyhoo, them lil Gen Y fan boys deserve to be forced to work at Foxconn for a year and made to attempt suicide weekly.

This was probably all set up just Samsung workers who wanted to get some buzz for the tablet.

  • Mark C

The iPad is as popular as it is because of the App store. Yes, it is an oversized iPhone but the many sites and pages I view are just too small on my iPhone. This Samsung looks a little small, but it looks interesting
