Eight U.S. senators call for investigation of Huawei equipment sale to Sprint

General

The Washington Post is reporting that eight Republican U.S. senators are trying to block the sale of telecommunications equipment from Chinese manufacturer Huawei to U.S. wireless provider Sprint Nextel. The group, led by Senator Jon Kyl of Arizona, is asking the Obama administration to investigate if the country’s national security will be compromised by the equipment. In a statement, the group said, “A Chinese company with such a leading role in Iran’s economy and close relationship with the IRGC should not be able to do business in the U.S.” Pretty interesting language out of a group that heralds the wonders of the “free market.” The senators also note that Huawei sells equipment to the Chinese Military, Afghanistan, and Iraq. “At worst, Huawei’s becoming a major supplier of Sprint Nextel could present a case of a company, acting at the direction of and funded by the Chinese military, taking a critical place in the supply chain of the U.S. military, law enforcement and private sector,” said the eight senators. You get the idea… what do you think? Is Huawei equipment in the U.S. a national security risk or is this just more political gamesmanship?

Thanks, Q!

Then how can those senators allow products from the States to be sold in China? wouldn’t that also compromise the economy for relying on a foreign market?

I’m a former Huawei employee. I left because of questionable activities I PERSONALLY witnessed by the Chinese. They are up to something no good. I can’t quite say what nor do I feel safe saying it but Homeland Security has an eye on them for a good reason. Their core network equipment for MSC & Home Locator Register (HLR) has backdoor motives. If you don’t know what that is look it up on Wiki & you’ll see how it could be very powerful in the wrong hands… saaaay a company funded by the communist Chinese government gets the ability to have ALL account information of cell phone users making & recieving calls on major carrier networks (address, location, privacy settings, text messages, voice mails, account number, phone numbers in & out, SIM Card data). What network does YOUR mayor, govenor, senator or President use? What network do U.S. financial heads use? What network do the people they call EVERYDAY use? This is about more than some dinky cheap little phones. they’ve been kicked out of labs for taking pictures of competitor configurations as well as caught trying to hack into CLIENTS servers. I haven’t even scratched the surface. I’ve seen it in action. Look Huawei up as an employer too. I’m not alone on this… May not be about protecting the US. But somebody needs to from these spies.
