BlackBerry 9670 Oxford internal overview

Exclusive

The red-headed step child of the BlackBerry device family is launching relatively soon on Sprint (and probably Verizon), and we have got our hands on a nice overview of the product in case you had any unanswered questions. Quick recap? It’s a clamshell QWERTY flip device with a CDMA radio, Wi-Fi, GPS, 5 megapixel camera, 240×320 external display, 360×400 internal display, and optical trackpad for navigation. If you loved the Pearl Flip but hated the SureType keyboard, this might be a nice compromise, though it’s going to have to sit pretty low on the price scale for it to fly.

Somehow this is even uglier than the BB pearl-flip…

this phone is just horrible… you can’t be taken seriously with this Jitterbug on steroids.

    Posted from BGR Mobile (iPhone).

As a former Blackberry owner, I’m appalled and embarrassed… Did the entire Product Design & Development Team just up and quit after making the 9700??

I’m in love! currently own a flip phone, but I want to upgrade to a blackberry. The problem is I’m not crazy about the idea of my screen and buttons being exposed. This is what I’ve been waiting for…a flip style smartphone. BB has finally won me over. :)

YES, just what I have been waiting for, Larger Screen & Screen Protection. Looks like the 9650 keyboard, that’s a plus ! Just hope it runs BB 6…not a deal breaker though…. Well Done RIM.

It just baffles me. When you are fighting for your survival, when your latest and greatest phone a.k.a Torch is behind the curve on usability, speed, looks, why would you commit resources for this distraction. Focus on ramping up the app world instead !! As an investor, I am so disappointed.

I have seen this product in person and it is extremely large. I was surprised by the sure size and bulkiness of it. It is by no means something you can fit comfortably in your pocket (like the Flip or Pearl). I’m a tad bit confused as to whom RIM is marketing this to as it is nothing more than a souped up 9700 and honestly, brings little new to the fold.

THIS IS NOT THE PHONE I’VE BEEN WAITING …… IT TRULY FEELS LIKE RIM, JUST DOESNT WANT TO PUT OUT A GOOD SPRINT DEVICE. I HAVENT BEEN WAITING 2YRS FOR THIS UNDESIRABLE PHONE, I WILL NOT BE BUYING THIS.

I TRULY FEEL YOU NEED TO LAY OFF YOUR CAPS LOCK.

I have the blackberry pearl flip phone and love everything about it except the keyboard… I can’t wait for the new blackberry flip phone and the full keyboard.

    Great phone…!

i could live with the Torch….but this? Does Rim not keep records of how what a flop the Pearl flip was? Android, here I come!

You can’t be serious. This thing is about 10 years too late. A clamshell smartphone is an oxymoron. There’s nothing smart about it. Most BB users don’t want to flip open a phone a hundred times a day or look like they’re using a kids phone when conducting business. Way to not know your demographic RIM. Those silly ass Canadians really effed up this time. Please don’t bring this POS to Sprint.

I’m always up for a clamshell since they are the only style of phone practical for putting in your pocket and not looking like Bob the Builder. Really, if a phone on your belt is the look you’re after, save some money and achieve the same end by wrapping some duct tape around the nosepiece of your glasses.

This is a Sprint Exclusive. Verizon will not get this phone.
