T-Mobile G2 to be network's first HSPA+ phone

Breaking

Today, T-Mobile launched a teaser site for the mysterious G2; the company’s first HSAP+ enabled Android phone. As the site states:

The T-Mobile G2 will deliver tight integration with Google services and break new ground as the first smartphone designed to run at 4G speeds on our new HSPA+ network. In the coming weeks, we’ll share more details about the G2 and offer exclusive first access to current T-Mobile customers.

As always, you can visit the teaser site to donate your name and email address in exchange for information on the new hotness. For now, all we know is: the device is called the G2, most likely manufactured by HTC, will run Android, and will have a T-Mobile compliant HSPA+ radio. Who’s excited?

My contract with T-Mobile is about to come to a finish. If this device is impressive, might just stay. With this suspenseful promotion, it better be.

I’m excited…will finally have my reason to dump AT&T. I heard you’ll be able to use wi-fi calling on the phone. anyone else hear that. That would be sweet!

There’s a rumor T-Mobile will push software UMA to compatible phone in Q3-Q4, but don’t expect much as it’s software-based and it may have hard time to handover between cellular and wifi callings.
I’d like to see UMA support on this model as well as nexus one (if it’s compatible).

UMA is all software-based, so it should not matter. As long as it has Wi-Fi, it technically is capable with the software of course. Hence, with the BB Bold 9700 on both AT&T and T-Mobile.

It’s a shame that T-mobile with it’s super fast network, throttles customers after they have reached 5gb of data on the phone. The faster speeds they offer, simply allow someone to reach the limit quicker. I am a fan of T-mobile so I hope they get rid of this policy or at least give customers the option of purchasing more data.

If it doesn’t have the new 1.5ghz processor and android 3.0 than aye tee and tee and tmo should just shutdown all services and pull their ‘heads’ out of our asses and stop screwin americans!
