Samsung Vibrant $99 from T-Mobile for next 24-hours

General

If you’ve been on the fence about purchasing a Samsung Vibrant from T-Mobile, ol’ Magenta is going to throw some cash your way in an attempt to sway you. For the next 24-hours, you can purchase T-Mo’s variant of the Galaxy S for $99 with a 2-year contract (normally $199). The deal is online only and won’t be around long. Anyone going to bite on this deal?

What a deal, what a steal

    • Tmo

I would totally get this if I didn’t already buy the garmin phone.

      • serpentor

Why would you do something like that?

I don’t understand why this is news. I got my Vibrant for $99.99 from Wirefly.com a month ago, when it launched (with no sales tax as well).

Somebody else pointed out that other T-Mobile authorized agents have the same price.

If you are buying direct from the carrier store, you are throwing money down the toilet. Their authorized agents have the EXACT same phone, EXACT same warranty, EXACT same rate plan, for usually at least $100 cheaper.

You buy it from Wirefly, they ship it FedEx, then if you have any issues like needing help transfering your contacts, you bring the phone to the T-Mobile store where they’ll help get you set up.

      Not news.

The problem is if you want to break your contract, you will have to pay wirefly PLUS T-Mobile. If there’s the slightest chance that you may do that, that could be a very expensive proposition.

Completely agree about the carrier thing.

A year ago I got my MyTouch for free when T-Mobile was selling it for $199. I bought my phone through an authorized T-Mobile dealer, if you live in the Los Angeles area there are dozens of them out nearby just do some research.

Of course the only condition is the standard 2 year contract.

C’mon tmo I bought 2 weeks after realease and now this? Aw phooey!

    • StevenHamburg

go back and switch it in. tmo gives 3months to take back a phone.

Would anyone be willing to $199 if it came without TouchWiz, just straight up in your face froyo.

nope. Still waiting for the tmo iPhone. nice price tho. Kinda sucks for those that bought this early.

Makes me wish I could flash my i920 Omnia 2 to android.
It would be very similar I think.

Sammy is cranking out some nice hardware.

Awesome deal except being on t mobile. Kind of a deal breaker if you want coverage.

It also is on a NEW 2 year contract, I haven’t upgraded my phone through tmo in 3 years but it’s $199 for me to buy the phone.

    @ Rex Ryan’s fat head:

I just came back from an 8 day road trip, driving a round trip total of 3,000 miles to go to Lollapalooza.

I drove from Florida, then through Georgia, Tennessee, Mississippi, Alabama, Arkansas Missouri, and finally to Illinois. (though, not in that exact order). I didn’t take a direct route because we were stopping in different cities along the way. Then on the way back, we went through Indiana, Ohio, Kentucky, Tennessee, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Georgia.

Throughout the WHOLE trip, I never lost coverage. Now, at some points on the highway in the middle of nowhere, I lost 3G but still had Edge. And at some points really really in the middle of nowhere, I lost Edge, but still had voice. That’s on T-mobile.

Now, in comparison… once we got to Chicago, we stayed at a shit motel near O’hare Airport (O’hare Inns and Suites, in the Schiller Park area). My friend with his VZW Droid, every few minutes would be like, “WTF? What is up my 3G??? Can I use your laptop?”. Yet my 3G on T-mobile was perfectly fine.

On the flip side… back in my hometown, there is a national park/forest about an hour away from home and when I go out there… I lose ALL signals. (I tell you this to show that I am not some retarded die-hard T-mo fanboy).

So how are you supposed to convince me I don’t have coverage when I just drove across a third of America without any problems? Stop being a bitch and STFU cause all you know how to do is repeat idiot fanboy garbage and don’t really know anything at all.

    • Mitch

      Nice!!!!

      • Killah Kyle

Yeah I have hspa+ for most of my time im in ohio, and when i travel to surrounding states the only time I lose signal is when I go into a parking garage or a basement.
And in the middle of the daytime downtown my slowest dl speed on hspa+ is 1200kbps, after 5pm downtown it jumps up to 3000kbps. In suburbs I average 4500kbps down. The only time I lose 3g in 3g areas is of course when in some buildings because the frequency can’t pass through walls or because I hit the 2g only and forgot to turn it off.

It might as well stay at this price for the rest of its lifetime, I’m telling you.

  • Mike

Why don’t I see this deal on the t-mobile website?

  • Aaron

I bought the phone today, the $99 price is only available for NEW lines of service not upgrades. I had to pay $199.99 after a $50 mail in rebate( I thought this was a joke since I ordered it through the customer care department, Verizon doesn’t make you do MIR’s online or over the phone….)

  • Dave

You won’t be able to “scam” the system. I just went through the whole process up until agreeing to the TOS and you agree to TMO’s as well as AMZN’s terms. TMO’s are the standard ones.

Also, a credit check is done before you finalize the purchase of the phone. Would have been awesome to buy it for 0.01 then not activate service and pay $250 for it, but not to be.
