Google and HTC launching Chrome tablet with Verizon?

Rumor

Are Google and HTC planning to launch an Android tablet on Verizon Wireless before the holidays? According to Download Squad, yes. They even have the launch date pegged for November 26th — Black Friday, of course! While it isn’t a surprise Google wants this thing out in the market ASAP, it is a little strange that this is the first we’re hearing of it. In any case, if the rumors hold true, we could be looking at a very heavily subsidized device by Verizon. Possibly even free, though $199 would sound more reasonable. As far as specifications go, here is what’s being reported: the device will most probably be based on NVIDIA’s Tegra 2 platform, have 2 GB of RAM, a 32 GB SSD, 3G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS, front-facing camera, and a 1280 x 720 multitouch display. Now, couple that with the rumored Motorola and Samsung tablets and we’d say Google really isn’t playing around anymore.

Although the article says android, this tablet won’t be running android. It would have the chrome OS.

My hatred for apple started when Wozniak left. And with itunes. Hardly irrational. And I have spent some time on the ipad and am not impressed. Again it is dependant on third party apps.

Chrome OS tablet? then it will named as Gablet? or ciblet?
I like Google’s Chrome browser, but I really hope Google and Adriod would do some innovation and can bring surprise for users, not follow behind like iPad, iPad now is really a big win, it have many market share, and the iOS have been around with the iPhone, ipad, it’s yet fantastic and remarkable, and so many app developers are living on iOS like iFunia, a MAC media converter developer, Apple always can provides for a large number of infestor.

ipad 3G is waste of money. $800.00+ tax in addition to the $25/month for att. When you add that up its $1100 for one year. If I were to have that, I would almost end up paying att $65 a month because the $25 plan is limited to 2GB/month. You can not call these devises an ipad or iphone killer. Apple makes good products but they are not the first company to come up with that technology. Example, apple came up with the front facing camera after sprint 4g evo. Matter of fact, the video chatting feature has been around since last decade. The touch technology was already on the palm (Windows phones) long time ago. Tablets were made by hp and other pc makers way before the ipad.

that’s a nice looking device; hope the specs are good.

    Agreed 100%
    - Android OS for phones and now tablets, Google TV, Android App Store, and I believe now they are trying to create a user interface like Itunes for apps and music. Just imitators.

  • MadSkillz

Hold up. Hold up… Parasite is kinda extreme. But I will admit that Google is both an imitator and opportunist. But that how things go in business.

    Imitators?

Does that mean Mac OS/X imitated a Linux Distro?
