Google adds ability to search for mail and documents in Gmail

General

Today, Google posted a quick note to let everyone know about a new “labs” search feature that is available to all Gmail users. The new feature will make the default Gmail search textbox query all your Gmail and Google Docs simultaneously. As Google describes, “Once you enable it from the Gmail Labs tab under Settings, the ‘Search Mail’ button in Gmail will say ‘Search Mail and Docs’ instead, and your search results will include matching documents and sites in addition to email messages.” This seems like a pretty handy feature for those of who are heavily invested in the Google Apps world and have a plethora of Google Docs. Let us know what you think.

If only yahoo emails would follow suit…

I was a long time Yahoo fan. I had to ditch them entirely 3 years ago. None of my yahoo friends would come online in Yahoo messenger. While Google was generously giving out 2 GB storage to 5 GB, my yahoo was still 100mb but I was glad because that’s up from 6mb. When nobody talk to be anymore when I gave them yahoo email address, I know I had to move.
My Homepage is still Yahoo. Yahoo should be in Google position, today, only if they decided to innovate.

Love it. I use 2 gmail accounts, docs, voice, calendar.. up until a couple months ago they were completely separate & unintuitive to switch between, Google’s really integrating them at a growing pace and Gmail’s becoming the hub..

    Thanks Google!

P.S. – Now just abandon that “plan” to drop mobile net neutrality & you’ll make a lot more people happy.

Now make it so that us poor poor iPhone users can actually search our mail on the server from the device…

This is great. That is one of the things I missed from my BlackBerry. Android is going to rule the phone universe.
