Because BGR covers news related to phones and this is a popular one.

      • bringit

        exactly.

RIM is such a joke. Blackberry is an even bigger joke.

    • Eric W

I agree. RIM is way behind and even with OS6 I am very disappointed.

Where is US Cellular popular? Is it like Cincinnati Bell in Ohio? Great service in its prime area, roams off Tmo and at&t the rest of the time?

U.S. Cellular is/was just like Alltel. A great alternative to the CDMA big boys. Usually better rates on plans but slightly lacking in the phone selection. I’m not sure how big of a footprint they have but if anything like Alltel was it will be decent sized for a small company. And I’m guessing they probably have around 10 million customers.

      • JoTech

Try around 6 million and stagnant on growth

      • Al Chablis

National 3G coverage. Larger than AT&T at this point. And faster download speeds than VZW due to a lack of congestion. Pwnage.

I can only speak for areas I live, but US Celluar is big in Iowa and Wisconsin. In the hills outside of Madison, WI, Verizon is weak and US Cellular rules.

They have some good rates like free incoming calls and texts, and their dataplan was cheap, but now that they are adding Android I see they have bumped it up to the standard $30 a month.

They are getting the Desire and a Sammy Galaxy this month, but like JoTech said, they are getting to be stagnant. I’m on Verizon here in Iowa, but I know a crap ton of people on US Celluar. AT&T finally has some 3G in a few big cities so I imagine they’ve lost some to the iPhone and if Verizon gets it in January I think they will take another big hit.

I go through cell phones like candy, probably like many of you here so a cdma carrier was never an option for me. However, I-95 East to the coast US cellular is the defacto best in North Carolina. In terms of coverage, and I am pretty sure there entire NC footprint is 3g. If you work on the water or anywhere rural, US cellular is your only true option. Now if they could go ahead and push out some half way decent phones when they release, not a year later, (see HTC Desire) they might see some real market growth

    zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

  • andy

this phone, appearance wise, looks like it came straight out of 2005.

  • Max

    Who gives a shit.

    • Al Chablis

I did…on your mom. Wanna know why? Because she did such a horrible job raising you.

  • sean.

    @Al Chablis,

your national 3G coverage is roaming on VZW so outside of smaller midwest and the smaller coverage on the coasts…you’re on verizon heh..

as for their rates they’re about the same as any of the big boys. former customer service rep there. with the Desire they’ll have a decent phone since the Acclaim is a joke.

*BUZZ* Oh, I’m sorry Sean, but we were looking for “Actually, he used to work for MCI Worldcom wireless, which was purchased by Verizon.” And again, all 3G roaming is not VZW, shared by other carriers as well. You still haven’t denied my point that USC will have a larger 3G coverage than ATT. And do your homework, rate are NOT the same. Check data, overage caps, aircard pricing, insurance deductibles, the list goes on.
