Google Calendar Sync will keep Outlook 2010 up to date

Software

Just a quick note here… Google has announced that its calendar desktop syncing conduit for Outlook — Calendar Sync — is now compatible with Microsoft Outlook 2010. The blog writes that Outlook 2010 support has been one of the team’s top feature requests. Currently, only the 32-bit version of Outlook 2010 is supported, but keep your eyes on the Gmail Blog for updates. We’ve got the announcement after the break.

Google Calendar Sync now supports Outlook 2010

Making sure that your calendar is available to you whenever and wherever you need it is important. That’s why Google Calendar works with a number of desktop applications and mobile devices including iCal, iPhone and iPad, Blackberry, Android, Nokia/Symbian, and Windows Mobile phones. Google Calendar Sync for Outlook is also available, but one thing was missing — until now.

Google Calendar Sync now supports Outlook 2010 — our top feature request. Outlook 2010 comes in 32-bit and 64-bit versions, and currently only 32-bit is supported. To start syncing your calendar with Outlook 2010, download Google Calendar Sync version 0.9.3.6. Once you install it, a Settings window will appear. Enter your account’s email address and password, choose your sync optionand sync frequency, and you’re done! (Note: If you’re already using Google Calendar Sync, you’ll still need to download and install this new version in order to be able to sync with Outlook 2010. If you need help, take a look at our getting started guide.)

I started using this yesterday and I highly recommend it. I had to use it has a workaround for my currently-buggy Google Sync app for Blackberry.

No clue, I’m using it on 32 bit Win 7.

I’m using it with 32-bit Outlook on 64-bit Windows 7 and it works great.

i believe iCal can already be synced…technically there is no Outlook for Mac yet.

And why would I want this? Is it because my iPhone gives me a sad face because it won’t sync with Google?

iphone sync has worked fine for a long time IMAP and recently Exchange. Just talking crap about the iphone as usual out the ass.

  • Steve

    What about sync with Entourage?!

  • Tristan

The real question is if it will still cause gmail/gcalendar to emaIl meeting attendees i have met with for the past two years and tell them about the meeting that happened two years ago.

I’ve been using this for almost a year now, and I love it. Being able to update my Outlook calender, Google Calender or the calender on the EVO, then have a change to one automatically update/reflect on the other two, is awesome!

      @Creamy Tuna Casserole
my comment below was a reply to you. thanks.

so is it possible to have this same scenario (calendar sync across all devices) work with contacts and mail (with the exact same set-up you describe above)?

this is why i basically feel stuck to the iphone – because of mobileme. it’s pretty good the way it keeps everything together although I really want to switch back to Outlook and verizon.

You can also use Google Sync to sync your Google calendar, contacts, and email with your Windows mobile. Android obviously does all of this out of the box, and I can’t speak for the iPhone or Blackberry.

Don’t waste your time with this. It does not work! It is very disappointing that Motorola and Verizon haven’t figured out that most of the business world uses Outlook. Syncing calendars should have been a priority.

  • Cathrene

    Does not work at all!!!!!!!

the settings window simply never appears!!

@Cathrene did you try to restart ur system? If not there’s another way around..
