General

Hey there Nokia lovers, we’ve got some good news for you! It looks like the company’s newest flagship device, the N8, is now available for pre-order via store.nokia.com. The N8 will retail for $549 contract free and its availability is listed as the “end of September 2010.” Anyone out there enticed by the 12 megapixel camera and full touch-screen format going to pre-order one?

I’m kind of bummed that Nokia USA is only offering this in one color!

If and when I decide to pick this one up, hopefully Nokia or Amazon will be sporting the other flavors cause I’m liking the blue one.

The green & orange versions could grow on me too!

Man if this form factor was running android I would be on it like a fly on stink. Not that I have a problem with Symbian, I just have a lot of time and money invested in Android applications. I think Nokia is making a mistake by not adopting Android and going with Maemo instead.

Maybe at this point Nokia just doesn’t want to sleep in the same bed with Google.

Like someone else mentioned earlier. There’s a butt-load of Android Devices to choose from. HTC and Motorola are practically owned by Google at this point and they are pumping out phones like McDonalds is cheeseburgers. Who needs another?

Having a choice is never bad IMO.

So props to Nokia, Blackberry and somewhat Samsung(cause of BADA)for keeping choice alive

The Nokia C6 was just recently added to the Nokia USA Site at $309.00.

Amazon already has it at $264.00

So you can bet that when the N8 gets past the notorious pre-order status and actually hits the streets, it’s going to be offered cheaper at sites like Amazon.

Sometimes patientce really is a virtue!

I want to just say that this is the perfect Nokia to pass up…but I’d probably be wrong.

Sure, the UI is getting a bit old but it is a reliable OS. I will take a look at this once it is available. The N96, N97, and N97 mini were disappointing so I don’t want to hope for too much. Hopefully I will be pleasantly surprised.

      I’ll tell ya…..About a year ago, I bought a new unlocked 5800 for about $200.00

It has turned out to be one of the best phones I’ve ever had. Yeah, the UI isn’t sexy, but you can slap SPB Mobile Shell on their to get your eye-candy fix if you need it.

What’s more important is the damn thing just friggin works! For a couple c-notes it has turned into the definition of “value for the money” for me.

Alot of these phones being pumped out today are all foam and no beer. They talk a a big game, but that’s all it is. They say they’ll wash your dog and make your breakfast, but when the rubber hits the road, they’ll barely make a 2 minute phone call.

I came oh so close to buying one of the new so-called “Superphones” that are made in Korea. My friend beat me to it and I’m glad he did. It’s one of the biggest pieces of crap their is. He sold it on Craigslist a month after he bought it.

So just give me a phone that works and that will actually do what it says it will do. I expect nothing more and I will accept nothing less.

Maybe the N8 will be such a phone.
