Compare three smartphones in one stop at The Shack

FORT WORTH, Texas, Aug.12, 2010 — RadioShack® is adding even more options to its broad portfolio of leading-edge wireless products this summer by offering Samsung’s newest devices for mobile entertainment and social networking.

The Android-powered Galaxy S™ series – Samsung Epic™ for Sprint, Vibrant™ for T-Mobile and Captivate™ for AT&T – are equipped with a 4-inch super-AMOLED screen and 1-GHz processor for HD video playback providing a brilliant, on-the-go multimedia experience that rivals in-home entertainment.

With a convenient network of more than 4,000 stores nationwide, The Shack® offers the optimal environment for consumers to experience Samsung’s innovative Galaxy S devices and compare across carriers in one location.

“The Samsung Galaxy S smartphones seamlessly combine leading edge technologies to deliver a stunning entertainment, social networking, and gaming experience,” said Daniel Liberman, senior vice president of mobility for RadioShack. “By offering the Galaxy S smartphones from three national carriers, RadioShack provides both exceptional choice and unbiased advice in selecting the right phone, carrier, and service plan for your lifestyle.”

RadioShack will offer a limited number of pre-orders for Samsung Epic™ 4G from Sprint starting Aug. 13. Sprint is the only national wireless carrier offering 4G service in 48 markets, placing blazing fast content downloads in the customer’s hands. Samsung Epic 4G, the second 4G smartphone from Sprint this year, will have wireless hotspot capability for up to five connected devices, a slideout full QWERTY keyboard, and a front-facing video camera, among other features. Eligible RadioShack customers can reserve Samsung Epic 4G (while supplies last) by purchasing a $50 gift card that is applied to the purchase price when the device arrives in stores starting Aug. 31.

T-Mobile’s recently launched Samsung Vibrant comes with exclusive, pre-loaded content, including “Avatar” and “The Sims 3” game. Samsung Vibrant is available at RadioShack for $149.99 (new or upgrading customers with approved credit and two-year contract). Customers will receive a $50 RadioShack gift card by mail with the purchase and activation of the Samsung Vibrant.

Samsung Captivate for AT&T is available for $199.99 (for eligible customers with approved credit and two-year contract) and in-store customers will receive an immediate $20 accessory credit with activation (for online customers, a $20 accessory credit is available by mail).

Great phone and TRUE unlimited data.

  • Better question…

Why the hell are they STILL selling Razrs?

    • Colin

Why the hell do they still have a Cingular sign. Cause it’s old.

      • 4GFan82

Good eye. It popped right out at me as soon as you said that. It’s been, what? Almost 3 & 1/2 to almost 4 years?

  • MacMan

Whats so Epic about it ? Tell me why im in a 4G city in fact in sprints main headquarters backyard and I can only get 4G in a couple parts in town WTF ?

    • Celz

The nations most reliable 3G signal, the fastest processor on a US smartphone to date, the best (or second best) quality screen, the second largest screen, 5 row qwerty, front facing cam with 3G video chat, HD video camcorder, 6 axis gyro, Android 2.1, HDMI out (with samsung cable), removable battery and sd card, mobile hot spot support, wifi b,g,n.. What else do you want?? I mean name a spec that you like about mobile phones the EPIC is either number one or two in virtually any category you can pull up..

If you have bad 4g coverage get a samsung moment and use 3g on a mid specced phone for less or get a VZW/ AT&T phone and use 3g with a plan that costs more than the one gives you spotty 4g and solid 3g

Yes. This is my backup plan. I talked to a radio shack sales asso. today and was pleased by their opinion on how the turnout of the Epic was going to be. They are looking to expect a small crowd but not as big as the one from the carrier sprint itself. For now im going to do both, 50dollars down isnt bad since i mean..U wont lose money if you dont choose to go thru radioshack. Its a giftcard and will still come in handy for accesories and batterys etc. So im hopping on the train. The price here is 249.99..U wont need to wait 5-12 weeks for a rebate check. ;)

Can’t save a sinking ship. GG Shack

Sounds like the same approach they offered for the iPhone 4…$50 to “gurantee” a phone on release day…only problem is that they didn’t get enough phones to fill orders so virtually no one got iPhones on release day. Radio Shack is great at taking reservations but as we learned from Seinfeld said it’s the keeping of the reservation that is most important. Given their recent track record I wouldn’t rely on The Shack to come through on release day.

Never had a problem with the EVO pre order. Sprint kept their promises on how many we would get. Apple screwed the shack on the iPhone pre “request” – changed the rules hours before the launch and still can’t supply as much as is needed. EVO no better since the launch, but at least they sent enough for everyone who we pre sold.

      • serpentor

Seems like everyone gets screwed when they partner up with Apple. Yeah the partners may make some $$$ but customers end up hating them.

Up next…Best Buy…Only reason ppl deal wit Sprint instead is cuz they can put the phone on your account. Yes it may be 350…but u dont have to pay until ur next billing cycle…plus My TP2 rebate came bout 4 weeks l8r…so it balanced out.

But i still wanna see accessories.

    • EpicMofo

Best rumored accessory so far, OEM battery for sale with external charger…why not for the EVO?

  • aDubson

Just pre-ordered an Epic on sprint.com
I have till 6pm on September 1st to pick it up
or it goes to the next willing customer.

    Get in line behind me.

  • Mohammad

I thought shack was going bankrupt.

    • strider_mt2k

That mattered a lot more to me when I worked for them.

      -not so much now. :)

  • Jayrod88

Best buy mobile is where I’m heading tomorrow morning. Same process but I also get reward zone points and no mail in rebate. :)

    • serpentor

Where did BB say they start reservations tomorrow?

  • HarryPotts

There are not Rebates at the Shack anymore. Instant savings and the Best Prices around. Also that picture is old that’s the store by my house.

  • phone_booger

I don’t know, but when I see Radio Shack wanting to get in on something it reeks of desperation, like they are clinging on for dear life lol

  • Mark

Yeah, good luck w the shack actually having ur back. I have been on a list for IP4 for 2 months and nothing. Ended up buying one at local apple store. Retina display is truly legit.

  • http://gregms.com Greg

Tried my local Radio Shack in midtown of Kansas City and they weren’t aware of any reservation’s for the Epic, nor did they seem interested in finding out if it started yet.
Nice to know I have such a quality Radio Shack in my neighborhood.

  • Mark

    (-1) really? Why???

  • Mike

Well Reservations have already closed out for my Sprint store… I would say if u want this device…PREORDER ASAP.

    • Nervous New Phone Guy

Thanks for the tip. I just preordered one billion phones, yep one billion. I owe you dude.

  • phoneguy

Sam’s Club Kiosk Wireless is also offering pre-orders with limited supply. It’s the same deal a $50 gift cards holds your spot for an EPIC!

  • David

Just pre ordered mine at best buy. Same deal with the $50 GC and holds your place. According to the employee that helped me I was the first one that the store had done… Have no idea if that is true or not.

  • jawman

Going to be such a great phone. I love my EVO but the specs on this phone are just brilliant. The Epic has the best specs of any phone on the market right now. Epic win.

  • Brett

I scored two on reservation at the local Sprint retailer…
This will be my 5th (and 6yh) phones from them and all rebates have showed-up fine.

For the longest time I’ve been a huge VZ honk, but I gotta say, Sprint really tries harder and, with EPRP discount, they are like 30% less than big Red!
Gotta love that! Adds-up to $100′s a year!
