PSA: today is patch Tuesday, there are 34 vulnerabilities in your Windows system waiting to be plugged

Software

Just a quick public service announcement and follow-up on a story we published last week. Today is Microsoft’s patch Tuesday, and on this patch Tuesday there are thirty-four vulnerabilities in your Windows system ready to be remedied by 14 bulletin updates. If you haven’t done so already, or your machine is not set to automatically update itself, we recommend that you launch Windows Update and let the magic happen. Stay safe out there, it’s a jungle.

Figures no comments yet from the winblow$ hateboys…. Figured it would be so considering M$ is soo much more secure than Mac, Linux, etc

    • Obj is an @ss

#1 OSX has security updates too.

#2 Apple doesn’t acknowledge many of those security vulnerabilities, and thus leave morons like you at risk, because you believed some marketing BS from Jobs.

Has this site become the Andrew Munchbach Report? This guy (while doing a good job) is essentially the only one posting any entries…

Andy does a good job reporting the news, although I’d suggest he doesnt report gaming news because ive seen how his articles simply blow.

otherwise, good job until he moves to greener pastures…

I just ran Windows 7 updates a few minutes ago. I actually had 15 security bulletin updates. I may be in the minority, but I really like Windows 7 64 Bit, and Internet Explorer 8 has proven to be a welcome edition to MicroSoft’s portfolio of web applications. I previously used Mozilla Firefox, but I’m 200% IE 8 now. Btw, I’ve never tried Google’s Chrome browser.

Some features such as saving passwords for sites are better in mozilla than IE8.

Why are there always so many updates with them. Everyday the annoying pop up keeps asking me to update.

Unless it lets me watch porn in HD faster then it is not in my top priorities list.

    microsoft is updating too much…
    they should go linux
    Ubuntu way!

This “Patch Tuesday” shows how incredibly vulnerable your environment is. This is not a good thing that so many updates are needed. From an enterprise perspective, this is scary that each Patch Tuesday you have to manage this across your entire environment.

Actually I’m a Linux user…wanna bet SELinux is a better security architecture than win…and back to OS X anything Mach based is too

Just cause I have a couple minutes here…all software has vulnerabilities, windows has alot, perhaps partially due to hacker interest however if that were entirely the case what about all of the *nix servers across the interwebs? Yeah they all have problems too but far less as their security and overall system architecture has been vetted and improved upon for years by an ever-growing community. In most case in most *nix environments security breaches are the fault of the end-user. Microsoft has a history of rushing subpar software to the market which has traditionally led to windows being the Swiss cheese of security…and as the last user pointed out is a recurring nightmare for enterprise. that being said I don’t think anyone who uses os x is automatically up steve jobs’ ass, while it is true the same degree of hacker interest has not been there in the past it certainly will be with the advent of iOS. No OS X, Linux and the like are not automagically super secure but the all are moreso that windows…there is a reason it’s more difficult to write a virus or exploit for those environments. One being that there have been years spent in the design and fundamental security of the underlying system components. They use what they get right and often times trash what they don’t whereas M$ keeps making the same mistakes time and time again. It’s funny how most MS fanboys are also android fanboys but yet you won’t see them anywhere near WinMo. Ah the days of the script kiddies are back with their beloved winblows machines. 9 out of 10 people who actually have some fundamental knowledge of computers and techknowledgy generally are not M$ users by choice…so unless your playing games or just really love shitty software there are a number of alternatives out there that are equally if not more capable…but yeah I guess the above does make me an ass…

haha hell yes it can b a jungle on Windows! Chrome or Firefox(with adblock extensions) with Malwarebytes makes it a lot less scary tho. 8)
