HTC's first Windows Phone 7 device videoed, to be called Schubert?

General

HTC has publicly stated that they are committed to the Windows Phone 7 platform and plan on having a device ready to go to market on (or shortly after) WP7 is formally announced by Microsoft, and a new leak from 247windowsphone.com seems to confirm that. A device being called the HTC “Schubert” has been videoed strutting its stuff for the world to see on YouTube. No detailed specifications of the device are given, but as you can see device has that Nexus One look and feel and is running a pre-release version of Microsoft’s next mobile operating system. Hit the jump, we’ve got the one minute thirty second clip all queued up for you.

      Android does with MOTO ahead.

      MILESTONE XT720
      MOTO XT701
      MOTO XT711
      and I think one more.

Hmmm… I wonder what they were editing out on the front of the device in the upper right corner…

    • Steve-A

      i would guess carrier?

    • Jack

No, test devices have a serial number engraved on them, tied to the person who is testing it. It was to protect his/her identity.

Won’t buy a phone without a front camera now, after the iPhone 4.

If this phone had a front I would buy it to test out windows. Come on HTC make a HD3 windows phone 7 with the front camera, I have my money burning my pocket.

      2 questions,
      1. how often do you use Facepalm. I mean Facetime.
      2. Are you really so entrenched into the house of apple that you think Apple was the first phone with a front facing camera? Hell the Samsung MM-A900 had a front facing camera in 2005. It was a piece of crap even then.

    WP7 on a dell lightning!

    • tech junkie for life

Everything the Torch is not, except its a Dell. If only it would live up to what we hope it will but I’m not thinking it will hardware wise. Dell has a track record of craptastic plastic electronics.

I beg to diff. Dell Axim V51 and the Axim models are the best in class. I bought it in 88, and I installed Windows 6.5.x OS and loving it.

      • iAmJerk

        ’88. Seriously … ’88???

  • Diddy

…coming to a T-Mobile Store near you, probably around 11/17/2010, for those who are interested.

One down. 5 more to go.
One of them with a great sliding QWERTY keyboard.

I’m still on the fence with WinMo 7, got to see more. The test review are not stellar. In my heart I love my TP2 with a cooked Energy Rom, that’s how all WinMo phones should look and work: smooth, flexible, beautiful & quick access to programs, websites, etc.

    • Celz

Yep… I went to the Moment instead of the TP2 so I gave up some flexibility for better apps… But there are plenty of times that I miss Winmo.. And WinPhone7 will have less flexibility than an iPhone.. I just couldnt ever see myself using that

  • Bard

I really like the look of that phone.Speaking purely about the casing, the tricolor back is new, a little refreshing, and something I wish a few more models (not all) had.

  • PAPINYC

Oh YES, YES, I’m going to run right over to Radio Shack and trade-in my EVOOO. Can’t wait !!

I think the phone (with it’s OS) might do well in Pakistan with the other Windows MOBILE 7 (ASUS).

  • 1jaxstate1

    Do want! Please released soon!

  • sack

That is one sexy phone. Windows phone 7 could actually make me jump ship from my iPhone. I could use a change and I really want Zune Pass.

  • iFloss

What I find to really suck is that the versions our carriers drop is gonna pale in comparison and were gonna get a waterdown ugly version. Phone has a nice back I’m not excited about the face though

  • boogalooboy

So this is the best HTC can do. Looks like absolute crap, Dell Lightning or a Samsung with SAMOLED thank you.

  • red014

I didn’t know HTC was in the business of cross breeding the iPhone 3G with the LG Chocolate Touch…

    I like it though :)

Wow that’s great now we can enjoy the features of HTC handset with Windows Phone 7. I hope this experiment should be successful and consumers can accept this smart phone. But I think this handset has great potential to compete any other handset of same features.

Let me welcome the new and it seems to be the best WinMo 7 smartphone. Windows Mobile owns. Thanks for covering this post. It seems better than Droid, isnt it?

  • Mr. Bill

I don’t know about better, but it is a welcome competitor when it gets back into the fold.

And, not stuck on just one hardware model/maker version a year, very welcome indeed.

  • LordObento

Schubert was listed on T-mobile’s roadmap awhile back but knowing HTC and how they launch WinMo phones on every carrier like touchpros, diamonds, this would probably drop on every carrier with a full qwerty version behind it.

  • http://www.civilprojectsonline.com/ Gauhar

Looks good. But would it be as good as Desire HD?

  • http://monica.rdkilo.com/ Monica

I like iPhone. No matter of how good the others is.

    • iAmJerk

      stupid ho

  • marK

Schubert? More of a Chopin guy, personally….

  • offday

something happened where I fell in love all over again with my n1. a big reason is still how it looks. HTC is dazzling me once more with this Schubert!

  • Nico

I’d like it if it had Android…

    • iAmJerk

why don’t you just get an EVO? You already complained about it not having a front facing camera to look at yourself jackoff. Well, EVO takes care all your needs except dispensing lube.

Cool! We run a pure Microsoft shop (ok, we have a few snow leopards in the graphics dept) but other than that, 100% MS with 2800 users.

We will be buying 2500 of these wm7 babies as soon as possible!!

    wm7 –>exchange 2010 –>Dynamics ERP on Hyper-V

    I cant wait!!
