We're filming a video segment with Sprint! Have questions about the Epic 4G?

Interview

Sprint and BGR are collaborating on a video segment with the purpose of focusing on questions from you guys, our readers! We’ll be filming this video with David Owens, Sprint’s Vice President of Consumer Marketing, next week in New York City. While we’ll have some questions of our own about 4G and upcoming handsets, we really wanted to get some great questions to include from you all. Want to know if the Samsung Epic 4G will be able to support 10 computers/devices simultaneously over a mobile hotspot? Maybe you’re wondering when the handset will be upgraded with Android 2.2? Who knows, but shoot us your questions in the comments, and we’ll pick a whole lot of them to go over in our interview, ok?

Does the Epic have voice dialing? The other Galaxy S devices do not have this functionality. In an age of safer driving, I can’t imagine why it wouldn’t.

    • Johnny

I think voice dialing is a froyo feature.

Will Epic 4G be a world phone (has sim slot)?

Verizon and AT&T are going with LTE for their 4G networks. Sprint is currently using WIMAX. LTE speeds will eclipse WIMAX. Will spring make the switch to LTE?

    • WrlsFanatic

Not true. For the foreseeable future Wimax and LTE speeds will be comparable. The next iteration of both technologies will be generally the same real-world speed.

  • Don Louie

Adeel R, LTE is going to be slightly faster only if there aren’t many users. Clear is already beginning test for LTE and Sprint will have their own trials too.

When will Sprint release another WebOS phone?

What is the roll out schedule for 4G in the rural areas close to current major cities that already have 4G? Is Sprint interested in capturing some of the market for rural broadband (18M or so people)?

    1) Can Sprint get reliable data coverage on train lines commuting from NJ into NYC? (So I can work on a tethered laptop (at any price) during my commute?)

    2) Does the new phone support data and voice at the same time, so I can get a cell phone call during my commute while I’m working on my laptop tethered to that same cell phone?

All I want to know is if I will be able to go into a Sprint store or even a Best Buy or Radio shack , put down my money and walk out with one. Or is it going to be another EVO debacle? I have been 1st disapointed, then madder and madder as they keep advertising a phone that the don’t have and can’t even tell me when they will!

      Tom,

If you go into a store, they have a waiting list that they are moving through pretty quickly. Once they get a new shipment in they start working their way through the list. That’s how I got mine.

Please try to get an outside video in direct sunlight of the phone to see how the new AMOLED screen looks in very bright light.

    Thank you,

    Will

With the known GPS issues, what will Sprint and Samsung do to help new Epic 4G users know about the problem in advance and will there be a fix provided?

  • Michelle

What about inventory? EVO is a great phone but impossible to find in stock. Will EPIC have these issues?

can you talk on the phone and browse the web?

What is being done to improve the battery life on the EVO?

TouchWiz and Sense are nice but they seem to delay or deny o/s upgrades. When will Sprint offer a 4G phone with stock Android?

With 2/3rds of all wireless data traffic about to come from mobile video (Cisco source), what is Sprint’s strategy to make a profit? Is it walled garden content partnerships and pre-paid QoS tier-based streaming, or will all video sources be treated equally? Oh, and Flash or HTML5 in 2011?

  • Steve

Why are they charging a bogus $10 “Premium data add-on” for this phone?

  • shaun dizzle

does the notification light change colors for different notifications (email texts etc)?

and can it run launcher pro?
