Motorola DROID 2 launching on August 12th?

Whisper

We have heard from a Verizon Wireless source that Verizon is targeting an August 12th launch date for the Motorola DROID 2. While unconfirmed, it would line up with the training info we leaked a little while ago. Now the big question is, Motorola DROID X or Motorola DROID 2?

    These aren’t the Droids you’re looking for…
    Or they could be.
Just depends on your personal taste. Whatever camp you’re in, please just don’t be an uneducated consumer.

What the hell is wrong with you?

Droid X screen rules. Screw a smaller screen + a keyboard that probably still sucks (like the original droid’s)

You guys just don’t get the Android = Choice concept do you?

Isn’t that the same day as the new BB Torch?

    • Venc

      Torch –> AT&T
      DROID –> VZW

      Yes both the same day

fanboys…really, just get the phone that you’ve researched and know the good and bad about. Don’t walk into it blindly – just like FriarNurgle said.

How about the evo? This coming from a original droid user…

Droid 2 is the Droid I’m looking for….You can keep your 42in Plasma Pocket media player..See you Thursday morning…

I am still torn between the two. It’s going to come down to trying them both out. If it that fails, well I still have 30 days to change my mind.

Already got the Droid X, and I’m pretty happy with it. However, I have a few friends who coming from Blackberry, still want a physical keyboard. I’ve told them to try the upcoming Droid 2, and have let them use my Droid X. They love everything about the DX, except for the no physical keyboard, as such, I think they’ll love the D2.

The BB Torch was briefly considered, until they realized it was only for AT&T and did not have a 1Ghz processor.

That screen is a dealbreaker as well. probably more so than the processor for me.

What’s wrong with the processor? Same one the DX uses.

        On the BB

Hafta vote for the full keyboard here. It looks very similar to the XV6800′s, which is a good thing. I like the huge screen on the X, but not sure if I can make the conversion to virtual qwerty only.

Coming from 3yrs with XV6800 and after trying three VZW virtual screen phones I was hesitant but made the decision to go with the X. First 4-5 days with the keyboard was a struggle until I hit upon aiming to touch each key a little to the left and near the top of same. That seems to be dead on each time. The X is a learning experience but a short one. My only complaint so far is the minimum 15 minute e-mail fetch. One or two minutes would be great and would appreciate any thoughts someone might have on the subject.

This is what I miss in my Incredible. I like swype, and I’ve tried all the other keyboard replacements, but nothing really beats that hardware keyboard.

I had an original droid that got stolen, but even its sucky keyboard was better than having no keyboard.

FYI, I am a former BB convert.

I still think that the droid x is too big, so the droid 2 would be my choice

I heard verizion employees talking about putting out a display model of the droid 2 on august 11
