The jailbreak hath set you free, iOS 4 jailbroken

Over the weekend, Comex and his gang of merry men released an over-the-web, on-device jailbreak solution for iOS 4 dubbed Jailbreak 2.0 “Star.” The process is completely painless, and all that is required of you is: direct your iPhone’s Safari browser to www.jailbreakme.com, follow the one-step set of instructions. If you happen to be a developer, and updated your device to any of the iOS 4.1 betas, you are going to be out of luck. To everyone else interested: happy jailbreaking!

    I am not familiar with this particular jailbreak method…but my answer as to it being safe is….

    Yes and no.

    You may void your warranty and such…but it should still keep working and all.

    If you have a iPhone 3G I would highly recommend doing it.

    Will I lose my current apps?
    Can I restore back to “normal” for an apple store visit? (if yes, will I lose all my “jailbroken” apps then?)

      you don’t lose any current apps, but if you restore it yes you will lose your jailbroken apps

    fastest easiest jailbreak ever.

    Using Iphone 4 and everything seems to be working fine.

    K, so now that I’ve done this, can’t get installous onto my iphone 3gs. any ideas? (i havent rebooted yet, so maybe that…)

    every time i try to download it on my ipod touch 3rd gen it says “A server with the specified hostname could not be found” WTF???

      Had the same issue. Had to try over Wi-Fi a couple times, with reboots of the phone between each attempt.

      the server is getting obliterated… if you keep getting “Server with the specified hostname” just wait it out… or wait till late nite when everyone is sleeping… its gonna be busy for a while…
