EVO 4G getting Android 2.2 this weekend?

Engadget is reporting that HTC EVO 4G owners may be getting Android Deuce Deuce as soon as this weekend. The blog received a whole heap of Sprint corporate slides that detail a launch plan; the plan includes an official announcement scheduled for tomorrow and code rollout beginning on August 1st. The slides also detail tons of improvements made to the phone’s software, some of which include: improved 720p video recording, Flash 10.1 support, 4-point orientation rotation, alpha-numeric pins for device unlock, and the ability to use the LED-flash as a flashlight.     Is it to hear about stuff their phone doesn’t have or to tell Stevie about some stuff that he can copy and tell everyone how he invented it just for iPhone users. Anyway back on topic can not wait for the update tomorrow should be great

      I don’t use an iPhone, idiot. I have an Incredible that I’m unfortunately locked into a 2 year contract with, and I’ve had 3 replacements so far.

      Each one

      1. Broken, fragmented OS
      2. Poor contact management
      3. Poor call quality
      4. But wow, I can make Fart sounds just fine!

        Sadly I had the Incredible 2 weeks before it came to market….I have none of those issues what so ever. Sorry about your luck!

    Nice. Really looking forward to this. Also nice to see Sprint being very aggressive with this. The Epic will most certainly have 2.2 at launch.

    Evo Suckers. Iphone 4 is trash and you know it. People get the Iphone because Apple is branded very well not because there products are the best. The Evo to me is the best phone out right now, yes it has some issues like all other smartphones but not to the extent of Iphone 4 and the way the treat their customers. So 2.2 all the way baby just makes my Evo that much more enjoyable.

    Fuck U Verizon this makes no SENSE that moto droid 1 has yet to receive froyo considering it runs vanilla eclair. I don’t give a shit about droid X or droid 2 push the update dammit and treat your present customers with respect especially since droid 1 is EOL.

    evo users beware – buried in the enhancements is a fix/block so unless you pay for hotspot you won’t be able to use it – they are closing the exploit – just an fyi

    I have both the EVO and the iPhone 4. prefer Android for the fun and freedom u have. love the iPhone coz is pretty. Two different things. I think I will love my EVO even more with a more polished OS. And those who keep talking about “fragmented”, they wouldn’t know what fragmented is if it hit them on their head. (Probably did that’s why they’re pissy)

    Excited for the update, but I really want HTC and Sprint to fix the goddamn 30 fps cap! It’s so ridiculous!!

    Also, does the 2.2 update for the EVO include WiFi n?

    PS Why are these tech blogs getting so many hostile comments now? Just because some people prefer iOS over Android and vice-versa doesn’t mean one platform is objectively better than the other… It’s getting ridiculous to read tens of “iPhone sucks” or “Android sucks” comments on anything phone-related here.

    I really love my Evo. Also I heard that the new Windows 7 phone will be the HTC HD 3. With 4g and a 4.5 inch AMO LED screen. I read that Sprint or Verizon would get this phone first. I really hope it’s Sprint. If anybody has any more info on this I would greatly appreciate it. thanks
