Apple takes on the DROID X in its latest antenna death-grip video

Apple took aim at the Motorola DROID X in the latest video to hit Apple’s smartphone antenna performance webpage. In the video, Apple demonstrates that the DROID X, like the iPhone 4, will drop 3 bars when held death-grip style by someone with presumably gigantic hands. Though these videos are designed to show that the iPhone is not alone in exhibiting signal attenuation, they are causing a maelstrom of controversy amongst smartphone manufacturers and owners alike, with each entity defending its platform with vehemence. With the laser sight pointed squarely at DROID X, this latest video strikes at the heart of the Android platform and is bound to generate similarly heated responses from the Android community.     Looks like Android users can dish it out but not take it. The double standard here is amazing. Signal problem on iPhone 4 that you have never
    owned, that you heard about on YouTube or on this site, and you’ll run with that to diss all 3 million iPhones sold as “flawed”. But let it it be shown that the X’s signal can do the same, all of a sudden there’s something fishy about the video, or Jobs is casting blame, or the problem is not as bad as on the iPhone, etc, etc.

    Yeah, 99% of you guys have never owned the i4, or experienced it’s alleged issues yourself, yet it gave you great joy to play the expert on it when you got the chance to pile on and dump on it.

    Well if you can dump on some on tech you don’t even own, why can’t Jobs do the same? If you can have loose standards for attacking products, because you get a personal sense of fulfillment out of owning your Android, why shouldn’t the favor be returned to you?

    I’m glad your silly and ridiculous inflation of self based on opposition to the iPhone/apple has suffered this slight puncture. Now I can sit back and wait on The air to slowly escape from your ginormous Fandroid heads.

    Another thing, what’s up with the groupthink here? Is this an exclusive Android forum or what? You guys hide the comments from everyone that doesn’t hate on the iPhone?

    I was thinking hat reason so many of you have such an irrational hate of apple is because appleheads engaged in similar types of behavior, and somehow you were traumatized by that. Ive seen this same type of behavior by blackberry users as well. I guess it’s you guys turn to gather around in a circle and congratulate yourselves on how superior you are because younown a certain product.

    Don’t you sound like the evil monster Apple when you do that though?

    The Droid X has 5 bars for displaying signal strength, yet this video only shows 4 total. Hmmmmm…….. I smell something fishy….

    After using new Droid X and death gripping it i still have full service and this is from a 300lb man…apple needs to get a life and admit they are wrong and that they made a glitches out phone…

    The Droid X has a 4.3″ screen, how come it looks like a tiny candy bar style phone in that guy’s hands?

    I think the reason Apple is getting so many phones to drop reception is that they have Banana Hands doing the testing. Maybe they should do the test when it’s not a giant holding the phone; maybe they should do the test with one finger…

    imoney has a solid point…as well as all of the android fans lol…it goes both ways honestly, there is a reason why the iphone 4 sold over 3 million when no other phone has and theres a reason why android is making its stake in the smartphone world. I think everyone should take it as what it is and realize apple will be apple and etc..What I cant understand is why so many people who dont even have att or an iphone 4 complain so damn much and act like it is affecting them? If the EVO and DROID X and with Sprint and Verizon make life so good for you, why does the iphone stuff bother you? just my opinion but what can i say im just another blogger like everyone else here
