MetroPCS gets BlackBerry Curve 8530, $60 all you can eat

mobile

MetroPCS, a company known for their low priced cellular plans and lack of annual contracts, has just announced that it will be adding the BlackBerry Curve 8530 to its lineup. The Curve 8530 can be purchased for $279 ($229 after a $50 MIR), and for $60 a month will include: “unlimited talk, text, Web and data service, Wi-Fi connectivity, e-mail, and turn-by-turn GPS navigation [...] including all applicable taxes and regulatory fees.” Say what you want about MetroPCS’ urban-centric coverage map, $60 per month for unlimited usage — including taxes — on a smartphone is pretty impressive.

Verizon has it going for free… And it doesn’t matter what that plan costs if you can’t get service where you are. Metro stinks.

Yeah. Type in 27601 (Downtown Raleigh, NC) and it tells me there’s no coverage but their coverage maps states that it does.

MetroPCS Coverage is Not Available In Your Area At This Time
You have entered a zip code that is not within a MetroPCS service area.

Those Chad and Ranjit commercials make me hate Metro PCS. Could they have chosen anyone more annoying? Maybe Dane Cook?

I actually recommended them to my parents who live in a metropolitan area and oh boy was that a mistake.

Their coverage is horrendous and their policies are completely ridiculous. The phones can only be returned within 7 days and less than an hour of use. On top of that it must be returned to the same store the original purchase was made.

The store owner was such a douche bag. Only he was allowed to handle returns and he was only there Monday-Wednesday from 10-1pm. Terrible experience, the savings are not worth the hassle.

I’ve been using them for years as a secondary phone. They sucked 2years ago but now I find myself using my Metro phone more and more. im actually thinking about shutting off my Verizon line when the 8530 comes out. I get about one dropped call a month or so. not bad considering others.

The stores are individually owned and quality of service varies from store to store but the service couldn’t be better at the one close to home. 60/mo is a steal

I am a business owner with great credit and plenty of cash. Just bought the Blackberry Curve 8530 on the Metro PCS plan and love it. Saving anywhere between $700 and $1200 total cost over 2 years vs the major carriers even with the $250 upfront phone cost. Sick and tired of AT&T, Sprint, and T-Mobile taking me for granted once they enslave me with a 2 year plan by dangling a free phone in front of me. Glad to pay more upfront and much less each month for the freedom to walk away when I want. So far, great service with no issues. Major carriers, go take a hike. I actually did the math!
