Bell made it official on its web page and will be joining Telus in launching the iPhone 4 on July 30th. Interested Canadians can point their browser to Bell’s website to register for the latest news on iPhone 4; while those dead set on getting Apple’s latest offering can start staking out a camping spot in front of their local retail store. Anyone going full bore to get the iPhone or has the antenna issues dampened some of your enthusiasm?

Bells atrocious HSPA coverage has me wishing I’d stuck with Rogers. But I will still get the iPhone 4 with hopes that bell works on their network

    • joey

Thanks for the laugh. Rogers is trash if you want reception.

  • What kind of plan…

The real question will be what kind of plans will be offered, at what prices.

  • vishnu

    Will it compete with Apple?

  • Woozle Wuzzle

Is Rogers the least suckiest provider in Canada? Cause im thinking of doing another 3 year plan when the iPhone comes out

    • dave

don’t get rogers. get fido even though fido is owned by rogers they have better prices on their plans plus you get fido dollars (5% of spending)

    • mmmiles

For the iPhone, Rogers is the least sucky, at the moment.

When 4G phones come out, I think the playing field will be a bit more level.

Price-wise, FIDO is a good bet, just look at their coverage maps and terms carefully, they are not quite as full service as the other carriers.

Who cares!?! (aside from the people in the 17 other countries)
WHERE IS MY WHITE IPHONE 4?!?!?!?!?!?!???????

  • ios

How the hell are they going to release a phone there when they can’t supply Here….

You make a good point – I talked to an Apple Store employee in Toronto yesterday and I tried to set up an appointment for the 30th to get an iphone 4 but they wouldn’t make the appointment – I asked why and all she would say is to call closer to the “launch date” and try then. She was very elusive and I think it’s because they even they don’t believe they will have any phones then or at best they will only get a couple of phones so they can call it officially “launched” and save face.

I personally don’t believe they are seriously going to have enough phones for 17 more countries given they don’t have enough for the U.S. as it is. I’m thinking late August or September is more realistic. However, by then I will likely have purchased something else.

Yup everyone that likes the iPhone got minus 1 at least…figures. Last time I checked this was a tech fanboy board not an iPhone hater board but what the fuck why not because android with it’s totally unregulated shit market place and various phones with a plethora of HW issues, even when they are mentioned here will be defended to the death….

  • Verizon

    Good and good luck.

As long as they don’t come running to us. We’re fine with Apple and AT&T fighting, though it’s unfortunate AT&T puts up with so many of Apple’s restrictions, among other bullshit.

It’s okay though, Apple knows we (Verizon) would bitch slap them if they ever tried to pull any stupid stunt like that against us.

We don’t want them anyway, especially after there “new” iPhone had so many flaws… our customers would never buy into “You’re holding it wrong”, “Get a bumper to fix the issue”, or “The signal formula was incorrect”…that’s only what mindless sheep who don’t know that they’re being butt raped would do and think.

Good luck Bell, you might want to call AT&T and get some pointers though, Apple will probably try to screw you over.

    • Ryan

You’re absolutely right. ATT generally has a larger subprime database in comparion to Verizon and even Sprint (T-Mobile takes anyone with a social).

That being said, due to Verizon’s higher cost of service to the customer, this has yielded in better reception, customer service, and overall devices. The day Apple tried to give Verizon an order, Verizon would righteously tell them to fuck themselves, because their BlackBerry, Droid AND Windows phone users make up a huge profit margin for them to worry about.

ATTs bread and butter has been the iPhone since it’s release, and if iPhone had never gone to ATT, they’d be a totally different company than they are now, whether better than Verizon, or worse than T-Mobile.

Verizon’s bread and butter has always been signal strength, stability and range of devices.

      Does anyone see a #verizonfail?

      • mmmiles

Verizon can’t wait to get the iPhone, and will bend over backwards to do whatever Apple wants to launch it. It’s not even funny how many iPhone VZW would sell on day 1, they’ve got literally millions of customers locked in contracts who would be the easiest sell ever. A quick contract renewal and an iPhone in hand, no disruption in service and probably even keep plan price the same – it’s a gold mine for VZW.

Sure, the network will get slammed, but they’ll have had a lot more time to build out capacity, and the slow downs will happen later, once everyone has phones in hand already.

If you don’t understand that that is the case, then you mis understand how a business operates.

    • Frank

      You are delusional.

Verizon can’t wait to get the iPhone – mark my words – when Verizon gets the iPhone it will be the biggest, most successful launch in VZW history – if Apple can meet demand, they will move 5 million phones in one month…..easy.

    • TheOneAndOnly BiGMaC

Business is business. I couldn’t tether without hacking my iPhone 3GS to overcome ATTs restrictions. But ATT is not in bankruptcy due to the iPhone….. Wall Street says so, not me………… These uninformed and non-specific gripes are to be expected from “also rans”

    • iPaladin

To “Verizon” maybe if you followed Bell and Telus’s lead and built out HSPA instead of CDMA, you may already have the iPhone. Shame because I really think Verizon would have built out an amazing HSPA network as opposed to AT&T who tried to get away with building only in certain places and on the cheap. Sure you have LTE, but that’s not exactly a fully developed technology, especially on the voice end. Note Bell had the 3GS too and their network could handle it just fine.

Why do we get this crap Iphone but miss out on all the top end HTC or Motorola’s phones! ANDROID ROCKS

    • Mr. Bill

Agreed, More Moto, HTC an less Ifone
      (Or keep it on Rogers).

    • idontwantsamsung

I really don’t like Bell’s monogamous relationship with Samsung. i’d like to see more sony ericsson, motorola or nokia or anything other than samsung’s unattractive looking smartphones.

      • http://www.fotohacker.com Jason

Bell has the best Android phone out there right now… the Legend – until Telus releases the Desire in a few months.

  • Apocalypse

My mom, grandpa, lowtech sister and the hated brother inlaw are all getting the iPhone when released.

A good reason you won’t catch me with one.
Besides I have work to do. Love my BB

  • charlesh

All I want is an ANDROID phone running version 2.2. Is that too much to ask!! Where is that in the Bell pipeline?

    • Jay

The whole Android adaptation into Canada is really something else.

  • justme

Ryan, VZW and at&t are identical pricing

  • Chris

Actually Telus has joined Bell in releasing their iPhone 4 page. Bell posted theirs just after the July 16 press conference held by Apple. Now how bout some pricing and pre-orders!

  • Rowan Moore

Please please make it a competative affair.

When i come back, i want to have a whole myriad of companies fighting for my iPhone 4 custom.

  • http://www.directorycellphones.com/ Alex Sam

It’s good news that soon we will enjoy iPhone with the services of Bell. Due to the popularity of iPhone every telecommunication company is providing this marvelous handset with their services.

  • tcrown

Why not buy it out right from the Apple Canada store sim unlocked and use it on whatever carrier you want.

  • RobotScientist

Am I excited about this? About as excited as a shot to the head. When the iPhone 3G first came out in Canada, everyone and their dog (myself included), flocked to it. Then no less than a year later, the 3GS came out with all the features that 3G owners botched about wanting (myself included again).

Point is that who cares which Canadian carrier has launched a splash page about the iPhone 4. They are all in collusion about voice and data plans/rates. And then there is this nonsense about carrier unlocked phones direct from Apple. Well it has been available from the Dev Team since the 3G.

Stick with what you have and wait the year. Antenna-gate will be solved, you’ll get a white one (if you so desire), and chances are you’ll probably end up with features that aren’t on the current model.

  • rick james

im glad we finally get the iphone 4 on a good network that actually works, no more rogers bs with their garbage network

unlocked or not? “If your iPhone 4 is unlocked via jailbreaking, every time Apple releases a new iOS update you’re stuck in limbo. You can’t update via iTunes or you’ll lose your unlock.”But jailbreaking iphone 4 is legal in USA. Maybe, iphone 4 should provide something richer for developers to create for, like ifunia, who declared they are dedicated in creating affordable and easy multimedia software to simplify your Mac life, but not kill them with “iTunes”. Then I’ll purchase an unlocked with no hesitation.
