Yesterday, RIM teased the BlackBerry-loving masses with seven new screen shots of BlackBerry 6 in several multimedia-like poses. The music player, picture viewer, camera, social capabilities, and new podcast application all got a little love on the official BlackBerry blog. Things are starting to shape up nicely, but like most of you, we want to see BB6 running on some hardware! Hit the read link to see all RIM is willing to show you.

Long time BB user (First BB was 7104T). Not happy with BB apps or BB media. I will getting a HTC EVO in Sept. BB needs work on their apps and multimedia.

People should learn to look past stereotypes. In 2010, it’s crazy. Grow up, will you?

With WP7 promising to rethink the smartphone/user interaction, I think Blackberry should come out a little more of the comfort zone and try living on the edge with a more modern interface. Android 3.0 will, hopefully. iPhone 5, who knows? Too much pride over there.

What’s exciting about this? iOS and Android are lightyears ahead of this. Blackberry bores me.

    • Sprinter

Android maybe, iOS has been slow to get many things that have been offered by all smart phones makers for years. Multitasking, themes, etc.

      • CMC

Apple is generally dead last with adding features that have been standard for a long time. Agree with you Sprinter.

      • Fernando

Yeah but crApple sold 3 million units in 3 weeks..RIM is dead period..

  • Charles

Please BB6, Rim doesn’t even have a handset that can handle a new ‘OS’. I’m stuck with the Sprint BB Tour 1 and that is the worst damn phone in the history of the world!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    • Mitch

I’ve got a Verizon Tour and I hate it as well, you aren’t alone.

Software has numerous annoying bugs that seem to never be solved.

Sorry kids but us adult professionals love BB. I guess we are too busy making money to worry about facetime and youtube.

    • Chris

As the owner of a successful web development firm, I must say that my employees and I get infinitely more done with our iPhones than we did with our BBs. Besides FaceTime and YouTube, iPhones also do everything else better than BBs.

      • thesmartguy

“iPhones also do everything else better than BBs.”, how about e-mail. This part of your comment made me rethink this other part “owner of a successful web development firm”

      • Derek

Iphones do email perfectly fine. The support exchange active sync. All corporate emails are pushed to the phone without the need for going through RIM’s convoluted service. Thank you very much.

      • Fancy

blackberry > iphones for productivity, multi tasking, customizations, integration on application within the OS an much much more.

    • Mitch

I am an adult business professional and I HATE my BB device. I’d like it much better if the software wasn’t flawed, it didn’t take five minutes to boot, and if the device had even a somewhat decent battery life.

What an ignorant and arrogant statement.

Sorry bud but that was a stupid comment. Our corporation of 300 + employees 150 of them with corporate phones and yes all iphones. Blackberry’s are so outdated it’s not even funny. Funny you talk about making money which i guess that means your business man?? How are those trunicated emails working for you on your blackberry?? That’s what I thought.

Wow I can’t wait for BlackBerry 6 and the slider. I also like the podcast app. RIM needed all this ASAP.

I will install this on my Microsoft Kin.

  • Len

I see many more BlackBerrys than Iphones in public. I also rarely see anyone with a phone running Android.

With the introduction of BB6 and the 9800 Slider, I’m sure this ratio will get even more lopsided.

The majority of BlackBerry users I see are either e-mailing, bbm-ing, im-ing, sms-ing, etc. All communications based.

Most Iphone users I see are either watching a video, listening to music, or playing a game.

Kinda shows that BlackBerry is a superior communications device, and the Iphone is a superior multimedia device (for now, depending on how BB6 turns out).

    • lover-of-irony

Exactly right! So there is a higher probability of seeing great media experience on new BlackBerries than Apple adding a great messaging experience on the iPhone – boys in Cupertino actually have convinced themselves they did that already :)

  • Fancy

    Android > Blackberry > iPhones4

  • Justin

Same old crap with different icons … RIM needs to pull their heads out of their backsides, completely rework their infrastructure so it can handle the new world where everyone has a smart phone and wants to actually USE it for data, and then design an O/S that is new and does something other than email… the world has moved FAR beyond mobile email and WAP browsing … RIM hasn’t.

If you buy the blackberry that is in the same price range as the Iphone (Bold 9700) and not one of these higschoolers text machines, you’ll soon findout that blackberry runs quite above average. Stop being cheap

  • Ds

I’m so EXCITED!!! can’t wait to see it in action…

I’m considering finally trading in my sexy but now dated bold. I wish stupid rogers would release os5 for it….. but thats another story. YAAYY 9800!!!
