Foursquare looking to ink search partnership

Foursquare Logo

Foursquare co-founder Dennis Crowley did not mince words when speaking with the U.K. paper The Telegraph. Crowley said, “Our data generates hugely interesting trends which would enrich search,” and went on to note that they were in talks with all the major search players including Google, Microsoft, and Yahoo!. “We can anonymise data and use it to show venues which are trending at that moment,” the co-founder said. Β ”Twitter helped the world and the search engines know what people are talking about. Foursquare would allow people to search for the types of place people are going to – and where is trending – not what.” It all sounds good to us, what about you? Do you 4sq?

    No, I don’t “4sq”, because it’s f-ing dumb.

Its helpful to let friends know when you (or they) get to a crowded bar or event, but otherwise it’s just as pointless as twitter.

    I don’t know why I do, but I do.

Foursquare may seem pointless to people. But to me and my friends living that broke college life, who can’t afford entertainment, at least it gives us a friendly competition day to day. It provides a little fun in our boring lives. That’s why I 4sq

It’s also why Foursquare will not exist in a few years. It’s a fad, with nothing to keep users interested once they’re bored of it.

never heard of it. sounds dumb just like all the other kiddie-high school social sites. live in the real world folks and not through machines. irony

    Posted from BGR Mobile (iPhone).

    • Irony Much?

Which is why Winston is posting to a blog site via his iphone.

I was about to post the same thing! Yes, it is quite ironic. Who would’ve thought it figured?

Not to mention the fact that the point of 4sq is to interact socially in the “real world” as opposed to just browsing sites looking for an excuse to post something retarded. ;)

what is the difference between four square and yelp?

  • Andy

I use it because my friends use it. It’s a good way to let people know where we can get together.
