Chatr launch delayed for an indeterminate amount of time

Chatr handsets

Yesterday, we brought you the first shots of four Chatr-branded handsets that are arriving at retailers in Canada for an expected July 21st launch. A circulating memo that was leaked late on Friday suggests that this July 21st launch date has been scrapped. According to the memo, collateral and dummy phones shipments have been put on hold and stores with existing Chatr inventory have been told to keep the materials in storage until a new launch date is determined. Anyone north of the border disappointed by this potential delay?

    Atta boy Bitove! Good call.

launch delay has nothing to do with bitove’s stupidity, billing systems not ready.

    • TIM

If they don’t have everything ready, then why prepare to launch? That’s pretty stupid to me.

Chatr is just Rogers attempting to put the new guys out of business. The oligopoly in Canada is concerned about the new guys..

The longer it takes for them the better.

I wonder how much this chatr brand is costing them VS making unlimited rate plans??

I hope Rogers gets investigated by Industry Canada, as they are blatantly going against Canada’s competition act. You cannot set up a loss leader to drive out competition, which is what Rogers is trying to do. If they truly wanted to be competitive to avoid losses to the new competition, reduce your excessively expensive plans on Rogers.

I hate Rogers and anything that has to do with it.

  • SVELTE

I hope that company burns… Canada does not need nor want anymore of Roger and his cronies.

  • Who cares about Canada?

    Anyone? NO

  • Joost

Not really… why Rogers is releasing another brand confuses me.
