HTC removes side-loading sync app for HTC Aria

Rumor

att-htc-aria

The jubilation that ensued when HTC’s sync app for the Aria debuted was apparently premature as the app has been pulled from HTC’s website. The sync utility allowed customers to install non-Android market applications and was thought to be a sign that AT&T was relaxing some of the restrictions it imposes on its Android handsets. Apparently, those assumptions were incorrect- the sync application was a mistake and AT&T is still maintaining tight control over the Aria and its other Android handsets. The fun is over and its back to reality everyone.

Can’t you use the Android SDK to push apps? And I think DoubleTwist does it too right? (I haven’t updated DT in a bit)

Att is what Verizon was, in fact they may be worst.

How do you deal with AT&T? All these dumb carriers are pissing me off.

I wish Google were in cellular carrier business. They would be fair, cheap and provide excellent service.

I’m certain thats coming within 8 to 10 years. It’ll meet a lot of scrutiny though.

I don’t see what all the fuss is about. The average consumer (which is, well, mostly everybody) won’t even care if they can or can’t install third-party apps.

Yea you’re right, let’s start a company that just dumbs down everything for the lowest common denominator. Oh wait, Apple already exists.

If you enable Airplane mode, then connect to WiFi, you can download non-approved apps from the Android Market.

HTC made a big mistake by even offering a phone on AT&T. The overgrown and consumer (un)friendly giant needs to fall into the ditch and die already.

Can’t wait for my contract to end lol.
