It looks like Apple has just green-lighted Mozilla’s latest application submission: Firefox Home. Home is a program designed to provide “access to your Firefox desktop history, bookmarks and open tabs on your iPhone.” If you’re an iPhone toting Firefox user, who loves to stay in sync, hit up the App Store and let the good times roll. We’ve got the full press release for you after the break.

Firefox Home, a free application, is now available for download on your iPhone or iPod Touch.

Firefox Home provides access to your Firefox desktop history, bookmarks and open tabs on your iPhone. Get up and go and have exactly what you are looking for on the Web on your iPhone or iPod Touch. Firefox Home uses your browser data, securely synced from Firefox on your desktop to the cloud, to let you search and browse quickly and efficiently. You can view the sites you want directly in Firefox Home, open them in Mobile Safari or share them with friends via email. Your Firefox data is private and only you have access to it.

Quick Start:
If you have Firefox Sync on your desktop, skip to step #3.

  1. Install Firefox Sync, a free add-on for Firefox, on your desktop.
  2. Restart Firefox and follow prompts to create an account with both a password and a secret phrase.
  3. Go the App Store on your iPhone and search for “Firefox Home” or install it directly from iTunes.
  4. Launch Firefox Home on your iPhone. You’ll be prompted to enter your Firefox Sync account info. Enter your username, password and Secret Phrase and tap “Done.”
  5. Enjoy!

fourth? Anyway, just downloaded and installed it. Had to install firefox sync add-on first then fill in info before the actual using the app on the phone. Not a browser, but handy to have.

Not all that handy having to open an app to then open a single web page and have to switch between apps to get back to your bookmarks.

If you have a ton of bookmarks you would like on your phone it would make more sense to import all your bookmarks into the desktop version of Safari, then use iTunes to sync them to your phone. Then you have all of them available. The only thing is that you would have to repeat this process for more bookmarks.

But anyways, at least it was approved?

I use x-marks to sync to sync all of my web browsers at home and use Mobile Me to keep my Safari bookmarks uploaded.

Now this of course would save me from using Safari in the first place on my MacBook Pro so its worth looking at.

Too bad I use Chrome now that I’m on a Mac… But I’d definitely ditch my BlackBerry for an iPhone to get this and then I would totally start using Firefox.. crappy Blackberry
