Verizon Wireless Motorola DROID X selling out, activation issues

Exclusive

We have been told by some Verizon Wireless sources that most stores are selling out of the Motorola DROID X, yet some are having activation issues. According to our sources, phones are being activated without data (voice only) as the system is currently backlogged. The system isn’t down, but some customers are being sent home with only voice working on their handsets. The current backlog we’re told is around 2 hours or more. Lastly, our sources said that customers seem “extremely happy excited” about the new Android powerhouse, regardless of the current data activation problems.

hello everyone, want to share my buying experience with you.
I got a great deal on the droid x.
99 bucks plus tax with free shipping.
    expecting it by tomorrow afternoon.
it’s for my wife but I’ll bide my time.
she might not like it and then I’ll get her the droid 2 next month.

Snagged the LAST X at my local store, got it activated with no problem and am loving it so far.

I received mine at 08:30 and it took them less than 30 minutes to get it set up at Best Buy. I left there and bought Multimedia station and holster and got 25% at Verizon store. This thing is blazing fast on the internet sites, and it was very easy to sync my contacts list.

I was in and out in about 20 minutes. My phone is awesome. I had some slow data for a bit in the am but it is flying now. Having an issue with youtube but think that could be due the amount of activations today. Anyone else having any youtube issues?

I ordered the Droid X at 2:00 am. On the 15th they announced that if you placed an order on-line after 2:30 p.m. That day you would not get your phone until the the 23rd of July. I was golden right I was told because I ordered at 2:00 am. My phone would be on the Fed X truck that day and when that day passed and I seen it wasn’t shipped I called the next morning and was told it was ready for delivery. After I seen the status late in the afternoon and seen it wasn’t shipped and said waiting for inventory I called and they told me “it took their automated system until 6:00 p.m. On the 15th to process my payment: which brought me past the 2:30 cut off even though I ordered it at 2:00 am. Well before 2:30 p.m. I have to wait until the 23rd, can you believe it? I hate Verizon Wireless it is always lies with them.

If you hate Verizon then why get the Droid X. So you have to wait a few days to get it. Suck it up and deal with it. You will be happy when it comes in. Or, you can go to another provider and get horible service, drop calls and little to none 3G. GROW UP AND BE AN ADULT. Trust me it is worth the wait!

woke up early placed order at 5 am on the 15th–I spoke with reps 2 days prior and they convinced me if I ordered early i wouldn’t have a problem—-just told it’s on backorder–will ship on the 23rd—-told customer service cancel order—- told they cancelled it but it did not go through because of a backlog….. a backlog to cancel? what will they think of next when the 23rd comes and goes….

As a 54 yr old businessman it amazes me as to the complaints concerning, “getting my phone when promised…”. The lines are always longest at the table where the best food is served, yes? If you want “top shelf” in any market , you must be willing to endure “supply and demand” issues. You want the best? Then be patient and enjoy your success!

Bought my Droid X on Saturday and I have had nothing but problems. Took three days to get my number ported over. I’ll blame that on my former carrier. But at end of day four, I still don’t have my data (internet) access. Lots of run-around. I even took it back to the store where I bought it and they couldn’t figure it out. At, I think, my 8th call to support, I finally have an escalated trouble ticket to get my problem resolved within the next 24 hours. As frustrated as I am, and I am frustrated, at least I didn’t have to deal with India. That’s about the best I can say about it. If you have problems, expect to spend hours and hours on hold.

Screw VZW!!! Promised me my Droid X would be shipped(DESPITE THE SHORTAGE) and arrive at my residence by this friday. I called to check on status numerous times but was lied to on 3 occassions about my order being shipped.”We’re still waiting on your tracking number to post”.
Also, despite me saying a shit load of times I didn’t want my card charged for an early upgrade unless the phone would be here in 2 days they just went ahead and lied to me anyway. Charged my card $230 all just have to wait anyway. Think Im gonna try it for two weeks and take our 5 lines elsewhere. This was the straw that broke the camels back. PERIOD.

I spent on hour on the phone with Verizon last night trying to activate my new Droid X (purchased online through Sam’s Club/Simplexity). Verizon was unable to get it activated and they finally gave up. I’m not sure if this is a phone issue or some internal paperwork snafu at Verizon. In any case, I’m the proud owner of a $200 brick. Oh well, at least it’s lightweight and looks cool. I’ll stick w/ T-Mobile for now…might have to try the Samsung Vibrant.

Ordered my Droid X on June 22nd from a authorized retailer. Got it yesterday basically lied to me because they did not want to give up one of the five phones they got on the 15th on a 30 day exchange.
What irratates me the most is that on check out they decided to charge me $350 plus a $35 restocking fee even though I resigned a contract and verizon is advertising it for $299 with a rebate. When I asked about this I was told it was a supply and demand thing. Gotta luv that
