Battery issue to delay the launch of the Motorola Charm?

Rumor

Motorola CHARM-2

A rumor out of TmoNews suggests that the newly announced Motorola Charm may be delayed before it even gets out of the starting gate. The handset is reportedly experiencing issues with the battery that are serious enough to force Motorola and T-Mobile to delay the launch of the Android handset until August. Under the same breath, the whisperer mentioned the possibility of Motorola including an extended battery with each handset; a scenario that may allow for a timely launch and a bandaid for the problem while Motorola works out the kinks. Whatever the case, those interested in the Charm may want to watch for a follow-up to see if this rumor pans out.

This is Motorola’s device. T-Mobile did not make this phone or the battery. Nice try troll.

Better that they catch this issue now before they launch it.

        Something Apple doesn’t do.

You are right, T-mobile didn’t make this phone, but they agreed to sell it and put their name behind it when Motorola shopped it around. So T-mobile does have a hand in it, whether it be indirectly or completely.

But the phone haven’t been release yet. So if they are working on an issue on an unreleased device that mean they are doing their job.

Yea you are right. Don’t figure out the mistake after the launch like Apple :P

  • blargh

Nice of them to actually care about the well being of this device. coughcough.apple.coughcough.

I actually really like the idea of an Android with an exposed keyboard. I just was hoping for higher end specs.

For the rumored price it has some really nice specs.

  • ljp

Well, there’s one way this device isn’t like a BlackBerry.

  • FrankieFlo

U know ….this device isn’t half bad from what I see …maybe this will launch other makers like maybe HTC or Samsung to make a higher end blackberry type Android phone …knowing Motorola the higher end charm 2 will be out by Xmas lol

    • Killah Kyle

Maybe this will make rim rethink their game plan. To me it looks like a blackberry, with a touch screen, and a better os.

      • ChrisP

Exactly. A Treo for 2010. Haha, sorry Palm/WebOS but Android is better. But I don’t know the specs. Going to check now.

  • sikkboy

Damn, those six people who were gonna buy it are going to be pissed.

    • Matt

LOL I was thinking the same thing!

  • motomad

Yeah how long do you think it will be before they get froyo. Motorola cliq for seven months and still waiting for android 2.1

  • Bada$$

    Typical tmobile crappy phone

  • Whatsa “sell” fone?

    No one cares.

  • needone

Yeah the battery problem is callled moto BLUR!!!

  • skyy_flyer

Whats worse: A company acknowleding that a device is not working properly and postponing release, or a company knowing of a problem, but denying it and hoping that having the huge fan base would prevent complaints about it and deny the issue exists?

  • Perspective

I say just slap “4G” and “HTC” on it and ship the thing, preferably with Android 2.1. After all, people are willing to accept atrocious battery life and old OS versions from HTC devices.
