Microsoft unveiled its new Windows Phone Live website, a companion site that will be integrated into its upcoming Windows Phone 7 handsets. Similar to Microsoft’s MyPhone service unveiled as a beta in May 2009 for Windows Mobile 6.x handsets, the new Windows Phone Live will offer 25GB of SkyDrive storage space and will let Windows Phone 7 users sync contacts, calendars, OneNote files, pictures and more between their handset and the web. The website will also host the Find My Phone service which provides users with the ability to map, ring, lock and remote wipe a missing handset. Microsoft also confirmed that Windows Phone 7 is on track for a global launch in time for the holiday season. At launch, Windows Phone 7 handsets will support five languages including English, French, Italian, German and Spanish and the Windows Phone marketplace will go live in 17 countries including Australia, Austria, Belgium, Canada, France, Germany, Hong Kong, India, Ireland, Italy, Mexico, New Zealand, Singapore, Spain, Switzerland, UK and United States.

    Oh woooooooooooooooow, amazing!

Because those features aren’t available via other avenues already, right? Seriously, I can’t think of one damn thing that excites me about WP7.

    • Jon

So it would be a good idea to wait and see because you know, I know and the media know just about the same information about this new phone. (NOTHING). You know why? Because its not out yet. That’s why (SARCASM).

This just in: Windows Phone 7 to feature shit you probably already have.

    • Jon

Just in, Windows Phone 7, Google, Palm, IPhone. To feature shit they all have, but guess what. It’s a better phone from the one before it. Tell us something we don’t already know..

Why does Microsoft always have to end their products with the word “Live” if it has to do with the internet?

    • Joe

Why does Apple have to make everything start with an i? It’s just their thing.

      • Jon

        Why does it matter?

      • Joe

        Exactly, it doesn’t

  • Steve Jobs

  • TIG

    • Jon

are they going to charge for this like Apple does- or make it free like Google does?

    • Jon

Sky drive is free, that I know. I use it right now..

  • boogalooboy

All those who say this is nothing new, please state which other platform gives you this functionality for free? Not via exchange, or 3rd party application but out of the box, free with no strings. And does that also include 25GB of FREE online storage? Is free only good when it comes from google?

  • Jon

Lets see, Negative comments = you don’t know anything and already your judging the phone. Sky drive. I wonder how many of you people know what a sky drive is. I use it. No, no other phone has the ability to sky drive or to remote wipe out your phone. I bet one thing tho. HTC HD3 is going to be the phone and I bet you will be able to hold the phone any way your want. eeehem (IPhone 4)

Look forward to seeing the phone here in Canada, but there’s one thing about the article that’s confusing. Why would Windows be shipping in only 5 languages? 2 of the countries mentioned (Singapore and Hong Kong) I’m sure would like to see some Chinese. Maybe there might be a Windows phone 7.1. :-P

    • Vitaly

Chinese is not a language. Go read a book.

      • TIG

Despite that – I am actually surprised Mandarin is not an option.

As with all 1st Gen phones there is always problems. Since this is a whole new OS I can wonder what bugs will be included with this. We are all guinea pigs working (which we pay for the phones for) to find these bugs for the carrier. So being excited for this WM7 isn’t very high on my list. To learn the double talk of the incorporations4656, so we may be prepared for the OS problems. After this many years they still haven’t gotten it right yet, while we continue to give them more & more money we don’t have to throw away & yet they have money which we can only dream about. So good luck to us all.
