BB OS 6 Hype Video

RIM has just released another “sneak peek” video for its yet-to-be-released BlackBerry 6. The video demos the OS floating in space, rather than on a device, but hey…it’s better than nothing. We’re interested to know what you think. So on the double; hit the jump, watch the video, and sound off.

After the i4 debacle I’m glad that RIM is not rushing to the market with either the 9800 or os6. I’ll be grabbing the phone when it comes to market but until then I’ll continue to have a life.

  • Michael

To late rimm, I already upgraded from my 9700 to iphone 4 and love it.

    • Bert

Too bad you can’t call anyone and tell them about it.

As I sit here and type on my incredible I feel sorry for blackberry. But you know what deep down inside I miss my blackberry OS and I can’t help but to want the next BB touch screen phone. I know i’d hate it after like one week but none the less I still want it. Dam my phone addiction.

    • Mitch

Be happy with your Incredible, it is what I wish I had.

I have a Tour and I HATE it, and I hated my two other BB devices as well.

If my company didn’t foot my phone bill, I’d without a doubt have an Android or WebOS device.

      • R_U_Nuts

That’s hilarious, you got down modded for telling the truth. I’ll echo your sentiments about the Tour, thanks for nothing BB.
The BB OS & phone design is ancient and like Palm may spell the end for BlackBerry if they don’t pull a rabbit out of the hat soon.
My EVO will be in hand next month, BlackBerry can kiss my hind end. ;-)

      • Apocalypse

he got modded for because he lacks an attention span

      • Apocalypse

Don’t hate what you can’t understand.

      Drew Dogg,

I must agree with you. I have a Curve 8900, and I’m pretty much done with it. I love BB like a fat kid loves cake, but I’m really interested in the almost all of Android’s touchscreen phones. Since I can’t decide I think the best thing to do is wait until November/December. By then everything good will be out, and I’ll have plenty to choose from. Let’s just hope I can wait that long!

BlackBerry dead? Im waiting for the 9800 slider the Storm2 is garbage. I love my Berries.

    • Tyler

I’m still waiting to unload my Storm1 for a Droid X here in a few days.

      I think I deserve it.

      • nate

i got a storm 1 too when it first came out and im still on the fence if i want to use my upgrade on another blackberry or get a droidx/droid 2. Might wait till November to see whats on the holiday list for vzw.

    meh.

  • Gag

It looks beautiful but you gotta have the hardware to go along with the software and I’m absolutely shocked that we have not seen a single leak of a Storm 3 yet! The future is A) Now and B) Touchscreen. I don’t want to see RIM milking their usual crapadelic keyboard based phones with their tiny 2 inch screens, constantly making minor revisions with no substantive impact. Let’s see some real progress with touch screens before we get excited about an OS we have to fuddle through with a tiny keyboard and a 2 inch screen.

      ^ This!

does anyone here realize there’s still more berries than any other smart phone? grow up kids.

now go look at rim last q earnings.

yeah. they aren’t going anywhere. morons.

HAHA! I love how that was posted from your iPhone

    • Holycow!

Love the fact that you posted your comment on an iPhone and not blackberry. Kinda says it all, and moots your point.

      • John

Yes, because his one iPhone means that RIM is dying off.

RIM is on the top 5 mobile handset makers worldwide. Not smartphone makers. Handset makers. All they make is smartphones, and yet their sales put them in the top five manufacturers of all mobile phones world-wide. That is his point, and it is a valid one.

I’m can’t wait for the 9800 slider getting the Samsung next week and 9800 whenever it comes out.

  • frankic

All these features and it still looks antiquated. Seriously, RIM is going no where.

    • K

      you are an idiot

    • Clusterphook

Willy Wonka called, he wants you back to work.

  • Alex

Once again, it’s hard not to notice the RIM hating that goes on here.

If you want a phone that is amazing to watch videos on, play games on, with cool graphics and colors, by all means get an iPhone or Android, or whatever.

If you want a phone that gives an amazing communication experience, than go with a BlackBerry…it’s that simple.

My BlackBerry helps me keep my personal and professional lives organized and efficient (no matter how much I use it, battery lasts forever!). Maybe if I was in a different career or win the lottery and don’t have to work I would consider iPhone or Droid X (or whatever). They’re great phones as well.

But I can’t wait for BB 6 and 9800 so I can finally enjoy the browsing experience my iPhone and Android counterparts currently do, along with touch…and I will still be able to use my trusty keyboard for those long email/BBM conversations :)

But enough with the hating…no one worthwhile will judge you as a person by the phone you’re rocking! lol

  • mtsunami

Yaaaawn!!! Sorry Rim i fell asleep

  • michael

    PINCHING AND ZOOMING = touchscreen

  • Jay Jonah Jameson

There aren’t more bberries than other smartphones. In case you were asleep, Nokia still has majority global smartphone share at 38%. BB and iPhone are niche devices compared to Nokia’s smartphone hegemony.

    • Devon2000

Ok JJJ we know that nokia is on top when u look at every other country, but we arent comparing BB to nokia which isnt doing sh&t in th U.S., find me someone in the US that has a nokia phone, it would like finding wheres waldo, its all about BB, android, and Iphone over here buddy, and and when u are comparing that Blackberry is the leader of the pack!!!

  • Andy

I think it looks like a big improvement, and I’m an Android user. I wouldn’t go for it though… I mean if you’re a blackberry user i’d look forward to this, but I don’t think anybody who is an iPhone or Android user is about to jump ship over this.

  • Redrumm

Floating in space ehh?? Like space junk…fitting.

  • David Poninski

Say what you want. I am an avid Apple fanboy, again say what you want. I am trading out my Eris for the iPhone 4 but I have to say I am pretty impressed with the previews of OS6 thus far. I had a Storm and wanted to set it on fire and pull up a lawn chair. If my OS on the Storm was OS6 to start out with I may not have hated it as much. So with that being said I think this a step in the right direction for RIM. There are features on that preview I wish was on the iPhone or even my Eris.

  • iamajim

David-I too share your pain with the S1 and agree about this new OS, looks pretty sharp especially when you consider it’s from RIM lol. I just wish the slider was coming to Vz; I may not buy it but I just love choices.

  • TKO

Rumors on the internets has OS6 coming out to CDMA networks in 2011. WOOHOO!

  • MAD

Anyone else notice that it looks like it is a “touch” based OS?

  • Brad

Wow, not just a sweet looking OS, but a great soundtrack too! I want that song! =)

I’m still an Android fan, but for people who love their Blackberrys, or are forced to keep using them over alternatives for security reasons, this will be an absolute must-have upgrade. I can’t wait to get my hands on one of these to play with for a bit. I had an old Blackberry Curve 8330 at my last job, and would love to see how much it’s really improved. I just hope RIM doesn’t push out a new OS and keep using ancient hardware that can’t drive it properly. In other words, RIM, it’s time to enter the 1GHz club.

  • R o bb

If you don’t own a bb you don’t understand bb. IPhone = multimedia powerhouse, Android = not Iphone, blackberry = everyone else in the world. RIM makes solid devices that do exactly what they are supposed to, they never claimed to be a web browsing and music loving giant. Their phones are built to connect people quickly and efficiently, and they do just that.

    • bm4

then that’s all you do… talk and email.

people from RIM are completely missing the boat on applications. a touchscreen interface that can be used to efficiently get and put data to internet (via an app or a browser) makes all the difference.

iPhones and Droids are so much more than a phone… it’s a way to stay in touch with your life (and do many of the things that previously required a laptop).

  • David

    Looks promising.
RIM is behind the curve to be sure, but the social integration is far superior to iOS.

  • Moonbaseone

Too many “Coming Soon” news and not enough “Here it is” news…

  • Cyko68

As a professional cell phone/smart phone sales person I would have to agree with the RIM haters. It is seriously antiquated. The Android phones are changing everything. Even Apple has admitted in the “MacWorld Magazine” that the iPhone cannot currently compete with the Android phones! Now that Sprint has brought out 4G Androids there is really NO competition. The ONLY feature a BB can do that other smartphones cannot is the BBM… and with endless other capabilities to make up for that, other phones are just better!
