Microsoft Xbox Live revenues to top $1B

According to analyst estimates, Microsoft’s Xbox Live premium gaming service may generate over $1 billion in revenue for the fiscal year that ended on June 30th. Much of this revenue is coming from Xbox Live Gold members who pony up cash for additional content like game add-ons, avatars, and movies. Microsoft was uncharacteristically forthcoming about its Xbox Live memberships and confirmed that over half of its Xbox Live members pay for the premium Gold service at an average price tag of $50 per year. Though it still plays second fiddle to the Nintendo Wii in total console sales, this is good news for Microsoft’s gaming division and bodes well for the upcoming launch of its Kinect motion controller.

Oh my, First! Man, I really got to take more advantage of my 50 bucks a year on “live”. Been too busy to play Xbox live in the summer time. Still on COD4 part 2 live once in a while.

not surprised especially when they charge you f’ing $10 to change your gamertag! that’s a jip… & they know it. i’ve gotten over the fact that we have to pay for the online experience, somewhat, but that fee just to change your gamertag. why not just put a limit on it instead?! i don’t think i’ll ever understand that

^ The only people that complain about charging for gamertag changes are people who have stupid gamertags

Yeah this doesn’t surprise me. Well I pay $80 a month for a phone bill so $40 (I only buy the gold when it goes on sale) isn’t really to bad.
