Best Buy ends DROID X pre-orders due to low inventory levels?

Rumor

DROID-X

Say it ain’t so! There’s a rumor going around this afternoon that Best Buy and Best Buy Mobile were forced to abruptly end all pre-orders of the Motorola DROID X. As we understand it, the problem is that the number of units requested by Android-crazed customers greatly exceeded the number of handsets that will be on-hand come launch day. We’ve not been able to independantly confirm this, so does anyone have first hand knowledge of what’s going on?

THE BESTBUYS AND CEDAR PARK TX ARE NO LONGER DOING PRE ORDERS UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE, AND ANOTHER THING, IT SOUNDS LIKE PHONE COMPANIES ARE STARTING TO ONLY LET BESTBUY SELL PREORDERS OF NEW PHONES AND WONT GIVE THEM ENOUGH STOCK FOR WALK IN CUSTOMERS.

I have the answer for best buy, but I do not represent the company nor am I speaking for them. They did stop the presell, but they have not informed the employees exactly why. To my knowledge it is actually a hault from the manufactors, not best buy.

Best Buy was STILL taking “deposits” long after this was posted. They are a typical retailer who takes your cash first then worries about delivery of goods later. It is BAD BUSINESS and I have “blistered” their “Consumer Relations” site. When ANY retailer participates in a National Release Promo where secured committments are taken (deposits), they have an exclusive obligation to DELIVER. When I read of “supply” issues as the cause for cessation, it only tells me that their management are “blood-sucking dogs of capitalism” without conscience. A promise is a promise! Due diligence dictates an honest predisposition of inventory and delivery of services/products. Best Buys’ upper management is suspect on more than ONE LEVEL, yes?
