Apple looking to hire antenna engineers

Apple Logo-Black + White

Lost in all of the buzz surrounding the iPhone 4 antenna fiasco was the fact that Apple has three new job listings for antenna engineers. Well, that is until Engadget unearthed them after sitting unnoticed since June 23rd, or one day before the official launch of the iPhone 4 and the very same day that the now infamous reception issues came to light. Here’s a little snippet from the job description.

“Define and implement antenna system architecture to optimize the radiation performance for wireless portable devices [...] The The candidate should be able to design antennas suitable for wireless handheld devices with excellent radiation performance [...] Work closely with other RF and antenna design engineers, mechanical and industrial designers, and EMC engineers to integrate the antenna design in our products.”

Irony, we love you so!

Thanks, Zachary!

    Hahahaha. That was hilarious….

    • Ernie

      I thought so too…

  • PHug

but wait I thought it was a software problem…

  • Dave

Apple’s job site has been posting antenna engineer positions for a long time now. It’s not that Apple is all of a sudden looking for antenna engineers.

    • DaHarder

Denial… Seems to be running rampant among the Apple faithful these days.

    • Drew

Ok Dave, but now that it has become relevant, it’s newsworthy. Thanks for playing…

    • your mom

I beleive that opening was placed once the news about the antenna came out. How about you rubber band your iPhone to your head and create a foil antenna. Can you hear me now?

    • Dave

      Oh….

Am I being called as an Apple advocate here? (Interesting)

I am, in fact, so far from it. I am an very happy Android phone user and an antenna engineer not working for Apple.

I just wanted to point out that those positions have been on the site for a while.

iPhone 4 definitely pushed the envelope in terms of its industrial design. Therefore, it sacrificed some things.

It is really up to the customers to decide whether the sacrifices made were justified for all the good things the device brings.

As someone working on the antenna, I am really glad that people starts to pay attention to the antenna performance and holding positions :) which we think about a lot, I mean, a lot when we design the antenna.

I am 100% sure that those that have already purchased iPhone 4 will adapt to proper hand positions and enjoy whatever they bought the phones for.
For those that are disappointed, please ask yourself whether phone function like making and receiving phone calls are really important next time when you purchase PHONES.

        You’re an iDiot

Ernie, thanks for the laugh you’re a true comedian.
Steve Jobs is brilliant.. He should be the CEO of BP.
“Dont worry about that gushing oil, just avoid that part of the ocean.”
    Brilliant.

    • Ernie

I bow to you sire. My pleasure. I just hope the BGR pays. I gave them Net 30, but not sure yet. LOL.

    • Ernie

By the way, I agree. I think Apple has handled this whole antenna thing terribly. Kinda the way they handled Jobs’ illness. You should see me like an absolute moron trying to hold the phone in a particular way (cause I have the whammy, I am left handed!) and people looking at me weird. I wish I could take a pic.

Glad I made my up on the Droid X

$20 bucks says this has nothing to do with the current iPhone 4 issues and more to do with the Verizon iPhone.

I’m betting it has to do with LTE.

PS: can the fanboys shut the hell up for once. Yes Apple fanboys too. But especially these Apple haters. It like a frigging scrapping a chalk board noise trying to read these threads. The sensible folks are spread to thin here.

BGR needs to separate the idiots into their own thread. The constant Apple bitching is just ridicoulous.

    • Ernie

Are you kidding MikeD? BGR is loving this. Be sure to look at the comments on any Apple Post. They are, without fail, 3-4 times busier than the Android posts. Partly because of the fragmentation of Android and partly because of the Apple hating.

But, for my part, I am trying to help the economy by fostering hateful comments and more and more page views for BGR.

    • your mom

What goes around comes around right Mike D? Remember all that EVO hate..? Payback is a biotch!

      • Ernie

I don’t know what you are referring to but MikeD seems always to be one of the more objective commenters here. He calls things as he sees them. Not trying to defend you MikeD, but I guess I am. :-)

I just needed to make sure we got to 100+ comments… LOL.

  • Michel

Do they also search for testing and public relations staff? Maybe some additional agents in the warranty and refund dept can also be helpful

  • http://infojunkies.org Dee

uhh why does a antenna engineer need to work with a storage engineer (EMC)????

  • Michel

BTW if apple’s customer stand up and force apple to fix the grippled devices this can turn into a good thing in this industry, where too many faulty devices in beta status hit the market and ripoff the customers

    • your mom

Unfortunately Apple customers are blinded. Steve could of put a Apple logo on his dodoooo and it would still sell millions. lol

  • lolobabes

til the fat lady sings! thats just gives it lol

  • JKingly

WTF? If the antennae issue was an AT&T problem all of these blogs would be scathing against them, demanding AT&T fix, replace or do whatever it takes to make it right. These blogs are so Apple biased it makes me sick.

Get this: Apple is wrong. They fucked up. This is an obvious snafu making them look really bad but what really is going to hurt them (stock price, reputation and lose of loyal Apple fans) is their arrogance. Do they tick we are stupid? The way we hold the phone? That is 100% bullshit. Apple should send every customer a bumper immediately and then recall the fucking lemon iphone 4. They would keep and even gain respect from the market but the arrogance they have about this issue insisting it is the user’s fault and no giving us bumpers or recalling will hurt them. I sold my stock today. I went back to my 3gs and put the iphone 4 on ebay. I am done with them because of the way they handled this. AT&T may have had issues but look at the billions they sunk into their network AFTER ACKNOWLEDGING THE PROBLEMS. AT&T did not say the users should not make a phone call from that street corner or they should not pull mail in that city. This is the exact same thing except almighty Apple thinks we are a bunch of idiots.

Wake up Steve. You messed up and you are messing up more by not taking care of your customers.

  • JJFNIGHTS80

Just to show How APPLE have a bunch of dumb engineers to fucked up their own phone how pitiful to see them to hire engineers to fix their Antenna problem when they can’t even fix it themselves. Just glad I didn’t even get a iphone since I’m on AT&T. I’ll wait till my Contract is over and get the DROID X.

  • MicroNix
