Verizon enters the Galaxy S fray with the Fascinate, U.S. Cellular tags along

General

Galaxy-S-GT-I9000

AT&T has the Captivate, T-Mobile has the Vibrant, and now Verizon Wireless has the Fascinate, it’s very own iteration of the Samsung Galaxy S. Featuring the same 4″ WVGA Super AMOLED display, 5 megapixel camera and 1GHz Hummingbird processor as its siblings, the Fascinate also has a six-axis motion control for an enhanced gaming experience, Swype virtual keyboard, and comes pre-loaded with Bing Search and Bing Maps. U.S. Cellular also announced that it will be jumping on the Galaxy S bandwagon, although what its model will be named and what most of its tailor-made features will be are still a mystery. Then again, so are its price and release date. All we know is that it, just like the Fascinate, will be available this Fall.

        LOL

        That’s a non-issue.

        DROID X, better specs.

Bigger screen, HDMI output, 8mpx camera, will updated first than this one, maybe this has a better GPU, but the CPU on DROID X seems to be faster

      def looks better!!!

    • Diesel

Dang every carrier wants a piece of the Galaxy S.

  • DaveNYC

seriously wtf is up with bing search and bing maps preloaded on android. an ‘open’ platform on an ‘open’ carrier should not come preloaded with any crap.

    • bob

that’s why it has bing on it. it’s an “open” platform. they can do whatever they want.

    • Diesel

Cant we remove it and add Google maps?

      • elijahblake

        Yes,

Bing is just an option.. you can use yahoo and google as well

  • drew dogg

The Bing is enough to make my clear decision… dro dro Droid X

  • JFA

Bing search and maps??? They have to be kidding me. That’s like when AT&T traded Google search for yahoo.

  • STILLIRISE

like i keep saying, when its all said and done, this will end up being the #1 selling phone, not because its “better” or its features…it will be #1 because its on all the major players..unlike the droid x, droid etc…this is the main reason why the blackberry curve is the # 1 selling phone…

Fall? Talk about being late to the party!

  • elCheapo

All this phone goodness and no flash for the camera?

    • Dream

It Has an LED flash where are you getting your info from?

  • http://www.verizonwireless.com VZW

You can download the Google Maps and Search. They are not blocking it like AT&T has done. It just comes preloaded with it on the phone.

  • iamajim

looks nice; good to have choices eh? we’ll see how this stacks up to the X; my ne2 in oct is starting to look like fun.

  • madi

so does anyone know if this phone will need a data plan and where i can get more info??? please and thanks=)

Samsung Galaxy S or Droid X? The Galaxy S screen allows for angled viewing, vibrant images, can be used in sunlight, optimized power use, etc. WiFi n connectivity and Blue-tooth 3.0 will be much faster (e.g., download of apps, streaming to TV, web viewing, …) Droid X has better camera and lens – more screen real-estate for those who want it. In addition rubberized exterior and superior phone capabilities might be a tipping factor for many. Unfortunately, both phones will quickly become outdated once faster processor 4G options hit retailers late fall.
