Steve Jobs responds: "There is no reception issue"; tells users to "Stay Tuned"

Rumor

email-jobs-stay-tuned

The iPhone 4 antenna issue has turned into a daytime drama and PR debacle worthy of Maury Povich. On one side, you have iPhone owners who are causing a bit of  a stir by documenting and discussing the signal attenuation issues observed when holding the left side of the iPhone 4. On the other side is Apple’s fearless leader who is trying to defuse the situation with calming words conveyed via email. The latest turn of events in this saga has Steve Jobs proclaiming via email that “There is no reception issue” and admonishing folks to “Stay tuned”. Could this be a thinly veiled reference to the curative iOS 4.01 update that is rumored to land on Monday or does Apple have something else up its sleeve?

How about an iphone on Sprint. Here are the reasons.

    1. Sprint has the LARGEST 3G network of ANY carrier. Yes if you look at the #’s its larger in sq footage than AT&T and VZW
    2. Sprint has the LARGEST and ONLY 4G network of ANY carrier.
    3. Sprint has the 2nd best network in dropped call rate.
    4. Sprint is the only carrier to improve its customer service, for 26 straight months. Now ranked #2 in customer service.
    5. Sprint does not have a large of a customer base as VZW, which will prevent from network overload.

  • StevenGlansburg

Wait, wtf, Sprint doe NOT have the largest 3G network, is that a joke?

Yeah, Steve, and the Emperor really does have clothes on.

“No issue” sounds like a software problem. In retrospect, Apple would’ve been better off shipping a phone with atrocious battery life. I guess “smartphone with battery that lasts a full day” isn’t one of the patents HTC stole.

  • jonathan

This issue does put a dent to Apple, but it will take more than this for people to not buy the iphone even if the haters makes it sound like the end of the world. I just sold my 3gs for couple of hundred bucks the same amount I originally paid anyway.

    • Tony

THey will continue to buy it because they’re trolls!

  • Davis

What the hell does that even mean? lol. Wasn’t this found to be someone spoofing to get their story up anyway?

  • ruben

$$$$$$TEVE JOB$$$$$$=$PHONE please would you tell me how to hold my $phone

  • VVickeD

They are going to fix it in software by making the display always show 5 bars regardless of actual signal strength.

    • Tony

Haha, you’re right. And those Apple Fanboys will just fall for it. Those poor suckers! I was once an Apple iPhone user but then I realised I actually needed a phone that would last a full day without having to keep charging it. I can’t walk around with a charger looking for an outlet to plug it in. And now even more problems. DO THEY NOT TEST THE PHONE????????? That’s what you get when you make your phones in China!!!

  • Dan

    Amen, my brother.

  • watevs

If Job’s says that there is no reception issues then he obviously is a jerk. My iP4 is hopeless and i will be returning it today. This is exactly the crap that i don’t want to have to put up with without having to rely on an update. Now i am beginning to see that apple users are just Drones and basically let Apple hold them to Ransom, the same as they try and bully basically everyone. Rotten Apples on the tree.

  • jawman

would LOVE to see a recall!!

    • Tony

They should recall! Everyone paid a lot of money for these phones.

  • Dan

Apparently the fix is to put a delay is signal changes.

So in reality the signal goes does (2 bars) iphone will
    still display 5 bars.

Reception issue will still there, just it won’t be as visable now when cupping the phone.

  • ruben

$$teve job$$ i got the solution for the $phone quatro !!!!!SENT EVERY ONE A WIRE GARMENT HANGER,THAT WOULD DO THE JOB AS AN ANTTENAi

  • wanderer

@Tony, they should have their phones made and designed in Taiwan like HTC, at least the OS is made by Google.

before steve replyed saying that “use differently”,, he is no more suitable for CEO,, is this the good response,,

  • Ted Bundy Too

Hey morons, Steve Jobs doesn’t give a poop about what you think of him or his hugely popular and profitable products. 2mm iPhones in less than a week, ooh I bet he’s worried about android and the comments by their loser users. The iPad was another flop. All these shitty products are moving pretty well, at an average mark up over 50%, he better improve those margins or Apple is finished. I would love to gather all of the bashers and explain to them the most basic principles of business, or better have Steve do it, as he is one of the best business minds/practitioners of all time. Enjoy your EVOs and Droids and shut the fuck up.

    There is no spoon…

  • Roach

There isn’t a reception problem, the rest of the free world is just hanging up on your butts because they’re sick a tired of hearing how great you think your new iPhone is. I mean we didn’t kill you last year when you went on and on, just STFU, please. And if we hang up on you please don’t call back. :)

  • JJFNIGHTS80

It’s not the network problem. It’s APPLE and greedy Steve Jobs. They keep fucking up their phones and they know they have lots of APPLE fans that would do anything to get their hands on their latest product. APPLE still haven’t learn how to make a good phone

  • John

Not only returned the iP4, but now I am not switching over to Mac. Any problem and I will be told I am holding my desktop computer the wrong way….

    no spoon

  • zxc

Well, you can output 480p from the iPhones/Touches, if you have the component cable

  • slice

omfg I wish BGR had some sort of moderating system so shit like this wouldn’t get through/deleted quickly.

  • webby

Why can’t BGR block comments from any IP addresses that useless spam is coming from?

  • rederikus

Absolutely, this is the worst I have seen on this site.

If everybody downranks these posts by clicking on the ” -” button, then they will eventually go away.

  • John

Returned my iP4….. Will go back, but only after the problem that isn’t a problem gets fixed even though it doesn’t need fixing…. So it was just my business that suffered all day last Friday because of me and not the iP4….. just went back to my iP3G, so I’m ready for Monday….

  • ruben
