After releasing the Razzle last year, Verizon Wireless is teaming up again with Pantech to launch another entry-level messaging handset. Touted as the successor to the Razzle, the Pantech Jest is a standard slider with QWERTY keyboard, 1xRTT connectivity, 2MP camera with camcorder, Bluetooth, up to 16GB microSD expansion, GPS, 2.5mm headset jack, dedicated messaging key, and oh-so-important vanity mirror. The Jest is expected to launch in all channels via direct fulfillment with the launch coming as soon as Razzle supplies are depleted, which may be as soon as next week. Hit the jump for a full rundown of specs and a few more slides from the deck.

Thanks, anonymous!

      FWIW:

Prior to the Jest’s launch, a Verizon press release said that after July 05th the phone would be sold in stores for $ 69.99 after a $50 mail-in rebate with a new two-year customer agreement.

A few days after that, I sent Verizon an email about the fact that a local VZW store still had not received the Jest and still did not know when or if they would receive any Jests to sell; this was Verizon’s reply:

“I have reviewed the availability of the Pantech Jest, and contacted a store in your area, and it is true that this phone is an online order only. Unfortunately because this is an online order the phone will not be available at the store to view. I currently see that this phone is free with a two year contract online, but not showing an end date for the promotion.

If you decide to order the phone we do offer the 30 day Worry Free Guarantee, and if for any reason you are unhappy the phone can be returned or exchanged. If you need further assistance regarding this phone, or ordering it online please call Customer Service at *611 (send) or 1-800-922-0204. Customer Service is available between 6 a.m. and 11 p.m. PST, daily.”

I saw it at Wal-Mart in Sparta, TN. I just searched it and it wouldn’t pull up at walmart.com or verizonwireless.com. I googled it and it brought me here.
