Verizon dealers start ruling the air early with new promo material

Exclusive

verizon-rule-the-air

It looks like some Verizon dealers don’t care that HQ has instructed them to not display the new “Rule the Air” signage until Sunday. We’ve just been sent in this snapshot taken at a dealership that is already displaying posters adorned with the new battle cry. Thoughts?

They are dropping the wireless on Verizon wireless. Got to work with a bulletin about it today! A lot of people like to think they know what’s going on but its just a guess lol do some research! About the girl looks like an earthquake wave on a map umm I say she is a 4.5 about the slogan rule the air? Not feeling it! Like an old nike commercial.

      There not dropping the wireless

      • Real1Zero

No I have to agree with the above posted comment. WIRELESS will be GONE! Instead of just typing why dont you google search it and you will see it on google news!

      • TXF

Verizon wireless is not going anywhere. They are just dropping the word Wireless from Ads Because it allows the word Verizon to be bigger and more prominent. They are however not changing the name of the company to just Verizon. It is still Verizon Wireless.

  • WTF

girls with big boobs in tight shirts do send a strong signal…

    • rollo

      amen

      • iFloss™

Is it just me or is she ugly??? I don’t find her the least bit attractive.

  • Tony

Yeah, cause gay people always walk around shouting “rule the air!”

  • DeeMoney

Last time Verizon spend hundreds of millions on the Droid Campaign it was followed up by $350 ETF’s and forced data plans for dumb phones.

Verizon customers will pay for these campaigns in some form or another no matter how terrible they are.

And if this new Droid ad campaign is truly as expensive as they claim you can be assured that Verizon will not get the iPhone this year.

    • jam

as usual, verizon is behind on product and marketing campaigns. at&t did this years ago with dropping “wireless” from the brand. who cares.

      • QuickWeevil

What the hell are you talking about? AT&T Wireless is still around!

    • MicroNix

I for one hope Verizon never gets the iPhone. When people are finally sick of their “magical” phone dropping calls on AT&T, it will be another switch to an Android device on one of the other carriers. Apple needs Verizon way more than Verizon needs Apple at this point. I hope Verizon tells Mr. Arrogant in Cupertino to suffer with AT&T’s crap service. It will only accelerate the move to Android.

    • DroidOwner

Nobody wants the iPhone anyway… and especially now that the iPhone 4 has proven itself to be nothing more than an expensive paperweight.

  • Uhhh

Is it just me, or does this whole look kind of reinforce the cellphones-cause-brain-cancer thing? I don’t really want to radiate.

  • reheheheally!!!

    lame picture aside..

its basically saying, do you wanna run the show? or just be a part of it?

  • Dale McNamee

I thought it was an ad for either AXE or one of those male-enhancement products…

Who cares Verizon is a luke warm company and boring. With the mixed press for other companies handsets, still people wait over night and in line for a competitors phone. Never see that happen for a Droid. Facts and statements in actions and numbers for iPhone.

    • VerizonGuy29

Actually that shows just how little you know…. People waited in line for the Droid outside stores in Lincoln and for the Storm. (bad mistake)

Listen, the Android OS is selling 160,000 of their units per DAY. If you look who has the lions share of these devices it’s Verizon. I don’t think ANYONE would disagree that we have the best lineup with 3 more Droids dropping this summer.

Look, they made a mistake with the iPhone. They know that. I don’t think you will see an iPhone on Verizon until LTE personally if ever. But for all you Apple fan boys out there you tell me how the 4g iPhone which is having some MAJOR reported issues (signal strength and the CEO tells you you’re holding the phone wrong? WTF) is really a superior product to the Sprint EVO or the Droid Incredible or the Droid X? Is it just because it says Apple on the back or is it because it actually does function better? Because it sure as heck isn’t because it has better 3g coverage or drops less calls.

BTW the “rule the air” campaign is not about Verizon beating our chest and saying “we’re number 1″ it’s about our customers and giving them the best comprehensive wireless experience we can and allowing them to “rule the air”.

      • Andrew

“it’s about our customers and giving them the best comprehensive wireless experience we can and allowing them to “rule the air”.

        Comprehensive?

To have class action lawsuits for thousands of customers for mysterious data charges?

Penalizing your customers with double ETF’s because your price plans aren’t aggressive so you have to entice with phone pricing but being worried a customer might take you for them?

By charging your customers to transfer their contacts when they buy a new phone? How about activating customer owned equipment in the store without a contract and paying to do that?

Encouraging your customers to pay their bills at a machine rather than a human being that might be able to answer any questions they may have regarding their bill? Wait that would add to the line that you already have to wait in by taking a number when you walk in the door. The DMV is more pleasant to most people.

If you wanted your customers to “rule the air” you would give your customer some sort of extra “value” perks for being with your company. Not nickle and diming them so you can maintain your hyper-aggressive phone marketing.

      • VerizonGuy29

“Penalizing your customers with double ETF’s because your price plans aren’t aggressive so you have to entice with phone pricing but being worried a customer might take you for them?” – or we could whore ourselves out like Sprint and loose money for over 2 straight years and continue to loose customers even while dropping our pricing. That model has worked really well hasn’t it?

By charging your customers to transfer their contacts when they buy a new phone? How about activating customer owned equipment in the store without a contract and paying to do that? – I have worked in and managed a VZW corp store and I have NEVER charged anyone for a contacts transfer. You probably went into an indirect store which has to make money somehow so they charge for those things. You can always activate equipment without a contract all you have to do is ask for it.

Encouraging your customers to pay their bills at a machine rather than a human being that might be able to answer any questions they may have regarding their bill? Wait that would add to the line that you already have to wait in by taking a number when you walk in the door. The DMV is more pleasant to most people. – The machine allows our reps to efficiently handle the traffic in the stores, you can pay a person, but you will have to wait in line just like the people that are in for more complex transactions. So you can use the BPK (Bill Pay Kiosk) or you can wait for a “real person” This is why we are rated the highest by every reputable trade magazine. Not saying we do everything perfect because we don’t but it sounds to me like you have an ax to grind.

      • MicroNix

@Andrew, I’ve NEVER paid to have my contacts transferred! Quit spewing FUD you troll!

Also, ETFs went up when people started profiting by ending a contract early and making money by selling their device on E-bay. WTF is a company supposed to do? How about you tell us how you would run your business to make a profit?

Gee, all over we are encouraged to go paperless and pay bills online. Being “encouraged” to do this isn’t forcing anyone to do so.

      • James

Come to my store, I will charge you $20 dollars to transfer your contacts! And, I will make you pay to pay your bill!

      • VerizonGuy29

James we aren’t talking about a Cricket store here…. just say’n

  • Al Gore

I’d force that girl on the poster to massage my inner thighs.

  • ChocoTaco369

Verizon’s “Can You Hear Me Now?” campaign may have been ancient, but it was legendary and very well done. This is a serious step down and completely lacks creativity. It sounds cheesy and is a total turnoff for most adults. It just sounds very immature. I don’t like it.

  • Mark

we use verizon because of the better reliability. that being said, i was always slightly embarrassed to be a verizon customer whenever one of those can you hear me now ads came on. wimpy. so now they’re trying to butch things up a bit. and speaking of butch, after looking at the picture, i think they’re using a lesbian to go after straight male and gay and straight female customers.

which means, i guess, that they’re surrendering the gay male market for at&t. just sayin’

  • resident

    Its Orwellian looking.

    All hail big brother!

  • Shawn

One snapshot of one poster isn’t really enough to judge an entire marketing campaign on; I’ll wait until the TV spots and website refresh hit to see what VZW has in store.

BTW with each new day revealing some new flaw in that precious new iphone, Verizon’s android onslaught looks more and more like the smarter bet. So why should Verizon even bother with the iphone? Tell Steve to call back when he has a better product.

  • VZWer

you guys read too much into these ads. I thinks she just constipated!!!

  • Bill

It’s quite laughable, really. If they would put more effort into caring about customers instead of wannabe cool ads they would be much furthet ahead.
