Samsung took a step towards world cell phone domination on Wednesday by launching three new messaging-centric handsets with T-Mobile US. These three QWERTY-packing handsets include the touchscreen Gravity T, the side slider Gravity 3, and the entry-level Smiley. The Gravity T and Gravity 3 are the next generation of T-Mobile’s popular Gravity lineup of handsets and offer side-sliding QWERTY keyboards, 3G connectivity, personal email and corporate Exchange support, social networking via T-Mobile’s Social Buzz application, a 2-megapixel camera with video recording, music player, HTML browser, GPS, Bluetooth, and support for a 16 GB microSD card. The Gravity T and Gravity 3 differ only in their input method with the Gravity T packing a 2.8″ touchscreen and the Gravity 3 including the standard T9 numeric keypad. The Smiley is an entry level handset with a rounded form factor and vertical sliding QWERTY keyboard. Like its bigger cousins, the Smiley offers support for personal and Exchange email, T-Mobile Social Buzz, a 1.3 megapixel camera, GPS, Bluetooth, 3G, and microSD expansion. All three handsets are available today from T-Mobile for the wallet friendly prices of $74.99 for the Gravity T, $49.99 for the Gravity 3, and $19.99 for the Smiley; prices include a mail in rebate and require a two year agreement.

Like that’s gonna help in their world cell phone domination.
And again Tmobile keeps killing their customers with this ugly phones.

As magenta customer, here’s my message to tmo: Please stop releasing these hideous useless atrocities and bring on the galaxy s already!

  • clamknuckle

The Gravity T? Did no one say that aloud before naming it as such?

“A step towards world cell phone domination”

Let’s look at this statement for a second.

First of all it links to an article about if, IF Samsung doubles it’s world market share by Q4 it’ll only then be the 4th largest handset maker in the world still trailing Nokia with 40% of the market currently. So could someone please tell me where the Samsung domination is at cause by the numbers it seems like a pipedream right now.

Secondly if it’s phones on T-Mobile US it’s more like a repositioning of the feet rather than a step.

3 soon to be “Old Maids”.

@broke CEO- No kidding, enough of these crummy phones. T-Mobile is beginning to look like a toy store.

    • Sharquawnda@SprintPOS

Yeah, WTF T-Mobile! Stop selling phones for your teen customer base!

  • nyguy

More then 90% of the ppl in the usa who have phones do not have smart phones. Most ppl have feature phones. Ask any1 who works in verizon, ATT, Sprint, or t-mobile. Most of the phones they sell are feature phones or messaging phones. So phone companies would be idiots if they didn’t keep selling these or at least making them available. So you idiot tech dudes who only want super phones. Open up your eyes, phone companies won’t forget about the majority of there customer base just for you dorks. Plus they make me tons of $$$ when I tell the parents you can add your kids for a cheap rate.

      Nyguy,

      Great post !

Also, many people don’t want to pay $ 100.00/month for the privilege of owning the ” latest & greatest ” on top of a voice plan. Nor do they need to watch movies,TV, or stream music, etc.

What they want are phones that can message and e-mail and maybe that’s all that is needed and necessary.

And,they’re not into being “nerd fashionistas”. Actually, beyond the fantasies spun on this site, who watches what phone a person uses in real life ?

Nobody out there in the real world really cares…

      • Dale McNamee

I should also add the cost of the phones themselves to the cost of voice and data plans in my previous post.

    • Laz

      nyguy,
I understand the market for mobile phones is almost tapped out. Guess what the fastest growing mobile phone market is? Smart Phones! Most folks are trading the old flip phone for feature or smart phones. I do also understand that TMO is the budget carrier and needs to continue to cater to the folks on a budget but can tell you from experience that this same song and dance from TMO grows old quick and makes long time customers leave for other carriers…

Guess what guys – a lot of T-Mobile IS teens. OH MY GOD. Teens LIKE phones like this. Not everyone wants or can afford smart phones. Shut up. Why should they stop selling phones for their teen customer base??? That would make them lose the teen customer base! Idiots.
