Apple iPhone 4 reservation breakdown by store

One of our trusty Apple sources wrote us in to give us a breakdown on day one of Apple iPhone reservations. The information we have is from Apple stores only, this doesn’t include AT&T stores or Apple’s website, Best Buy or Radio Shack. We have also independently confirmed the information below.

  • A “large” New York Apple store had over 2,200 iPhone reservations
  • A “medium” sized Boston Apple store had over 800 reservations
  • One store in California had over 1,000 reservations, and another in California had over 1,400
  • A “small” Texas Apple store had over 900.

Note that these don’t include preorders, walk-in sales on launch day, or any white iPhones. So, it’s in addition to Apple’s 600,000 number. Can’t you tell how excited Apple is?

    All I can say is that if there are 1,400 people in line when I show up to pickup pre-order, I’m going to call the Fire Department to ensure the occupancy limit of the enclosing mall is being respected; then, I’m going to leave without picking up a phone.

    Um, this says breakdown by store. I don’t see all stores listed. Looks like a breakdown of 5 stores.

    Of course its just the 5 stores, maybe if you took all of the apple, bestbuys, walmarts and Atts, and average them out, it would be a very significant amount.

    i give alot of respect to apple..
    every company wants to create a product that will sell off within hours of launching..

    love or hate apple.. they have it locked down on providing what consumers want. I will be hopefully getting an iPhone as soon as its launched in my home town (Toronto, ON) sometime in July.

    I know that, if I wanted to… I could walk into any of those stores on the launch day and get an Iphone. This is all 100% fake Hype… they have to do something – since Google is crushing them like a little bug……

    walmart stores was only able to get 3800 company wide i was told my store will only have one for the 24th release date

    I have a reservation. The lines at the Apple Store are huge right now. My understanding is that all reservations will not be honored once the store closes tonight.

    What happens to the reservations of the folks that are in line when the store closes?

      I also have a reservation, but the apple store in my area couldn’t figure out how to have 2 lines – one for reservations and one for walk ins… so the “geniuses” there have one line that is over 6 hours long… not worth it to wait in line for 6+ hours to get a new phone…

      different employees are telling people different things – some say come back tomorrow and your reservation will still be good… others say if you arent in line now you are hosed…

      people clearly want the phone, but the customer service experience is extremely frustrating… even the people i saw leaving the store with phones werent happy.
