HTC Desire headed to the U.S. in August

And the lovely deluge of hot summer smartphones continues, as today HTC announced that it will be bringing the 1GHz Snapdragon-powered Desire to the U.S. this August. The Desire will apparently be offered “via select regional operators”, although just who they are will remain a mystery until “we get closer to availability.” Any bets on how long it will be until the info leaks out?

    prolly T-mobile i thought i heard it was coming to at&t but they went the retarded route i guess to shine a little 3″ android device like the tards they are it just sucks i have to put up with them for 2 more years…….

      Well, tech, at&t getting two htc devices..but I don’t think them or tmo are considered regional carriers.

      I’m putting my money on US Cellular…

    At&t will be getting it as well…..that will be there 5th and final Android device for 2010. Most likely around Late July, early August

      If AT&T gets it in July/August, it will run through the same stripped down process that the backcrap and the aria have gone through. So no non-Android Market app installs and swapping out Google for Yahoo search

        Only the Backflop has Yahoo. The Aero and Aria have Google. Try reading some blogs first.

        Limiting your application choices to Android Market only isn’t really considered stripped down. The Backflip, yea, that was at&t customized..not too cool, but the Aria, the only thing I’ve read is that you can’t get apps that’s not through the Android Market, which isn’t that bad I guess. As long as it’s possible to flash the device, who cares?

        Well I have already decided that I am going to stay with the Death Star…and it wont be for the iPhone. If this is released on DeathStar’s network – I will choose it over the Aria. I am sure that someone will have a flash for it soon…and get rid of the AT&T chains.

    All i want is ATT to have a sick android phone and Desire, that would be killer, i would take back all my hatred for ATT and now i guess i might have to wait on switching to Verizon

        The only thing the Galaxy S has going for it is a fast processor. As if forgetting the flash wasnt bad enough, the Galaxy S also has Sammy’s universally hated Touchwiz interface. Dont look for many mods either, Devs and hackers prefer HTC.

        i agree i only carry htc, and as much as everyone hates it im a WinMo fan.. sure i have to put up with it crashing 3 times a week but who cares i have never owned a smartphone that wouldnt lock up on occasion and that includes my iphone 3gs.. ill another andoid then when WinMo7 comes out ill get one of those.. but HTC is the only manufacturer that i look for

        At least Galaxy S is pretty.
        Granted, some of HTC’s phones are nice (ie: the evo, the hd2), but some are downright wierd (ie: the desire, the aria… I can go on)

      Oh cause there are a plethora of 1.5 or 2ghz processors out right now. And AMOLED screens are so passe.

      Its on par with what’s out today, no matter what platform OS you prefer.

      If its outdated, then come back with proof Prophet Dumb ass!!

    Who even fucking cares no more. I sure don’t cause AT&T is dumb asses for not picking up this phone. After waiting since CES and their conference it won’t be coming to AT&T. so why say heading to August when it’s only going to smaller carriers like U.S. Cellular and Canada are the only ones getting it. Some B.S. news to me.

    Really, just who “desires” this phone? It’s hideous, ungainly, and the camera had no flash. You can get a much nicer nexus one if you, for whatever unknown reason, want an HTC phone.
