Verizon Wireless holding June 23rd Android press event

Verizon Wireless will be holding a June 23rd Android press event with Motorola, Google, and Adobe all lined up as speakers. The invite reads, “unleashing the next generation of DROID.” Hmm, what could it be? The event kicks off at 12:00PM EDT. DROIIIID.

      Its not going to have any effect on the iPhone 4 sales. But its good to see Verizon getting ballsy.

      If this is for the Droid 2 then my guess is they are going to skip over explaining why the hardware specs are the same for Droid 1 and 2.

        what your dumbass fails to understand is the article is on internet browsing. Of course an ipad is going to beat out blackberry and android and even an iphone based on INTERNET BROWSING.

        I don’t bust out my phone to browse the internet, i’d rather use a netbook, laptop, or ipad if i had one near me.

    Sounds like a damage control event. They might have thought about doing this a week earlier (or nine days to be exact).

    Hopefully HTC will show up so we can hear about the hardware recall for the EVO. Along with the future of Droid, I would personally like to hear about refunds for those who purchased an incomplete device.

    all day on various sites ive been reading about people porting to att for the iphone..unfortunately preorders tell the tail, for all the people who left to VZW for droids etc a bunch are porting over on preorder, so round and round we go..

      While I agree with your assessment, I would suggest that the larger number would be people porting over to iPhone. Not very many unhappy people using the iPhone. According to the customer satisfaction surveys anyway.

      It’s Verizon, Google, Motorola and Adobe what part of rock don’t you see there?

      Verizon: We use CDMA
      Google: We are a search company that gave up as a hardware reseller after three months.
      Motorola: We owned a huge portion of this business a long time ago, now we are the DELL of our industry.
      Adobe: Apple helped fund our existence and then we gave them the finger in the late 90′s. Now we are pissed because they are giving us a return of the finger.

      Clearly you can see the train wreck disaster that this will be.

    I love my Android, but unfortunately all it will do for VZW is be a crap load of upgrades.

    There’s no way it will pull loads of customers from at&t like the iPhone will from VZW.

    Android > iPhone, don’t get me wrong but it just doesn’t have the appeal that Apple gives – right or wrong – that’s the way it is.

      WRONG! Check the facts. Android is the fastest-growing adopted OS right now overall. Most of the people getting iPhone 4 are current iPhone owners. People going to Android are leaving Blackberry and iPhone in droves.

    Btw people, I hope Verizon doesn’t put some new cap on their data like At&t. I realize they have an unwritten 5GB cap, but I’m just hoping that isnt another special announcement they have…

      Yeah I have called in twice about that unwritten 5GB cap,(being that my plan was called unlimited data) and they keep telling me i have no cap, it is truly unlimited.
      I pulled a little over 4.5gigs one month but that is the most I have ever used.

    I hope VZW decides to forgo the data cap, seems they would lure more customers. It’s like, “look at this great phone and what it can do, now give us an extra $100/month if you wanna use it to its full potential.
    The event will hopefully be to announce the new Moto Droid and I hope a Tablet built by Motorola.

    I am ready to buy this bad boy! It is about time Verizon breaks the 3.7″ barrier on screen size! This is a by far better phone than the iPhone especially since you can add memory, better camera, faster processor, and of course the much larger screen. In addition, the Android configurability options blows away the iPhone! Any word on when it can be purchased and/or pre-ordered?
