Verizon Droid X to go on sale July 19th?

Rumor

droid-x-leak-a

If you’ve been on pins and needles waiting for more information about the Droid X, today looks to be a pretty good day. According to Droid-Life, the site that has been absolutely crushing it when it comes to this particular phone, the Droid X will make its Verizon debut on July 19th. It goes without saying that this is a rumor, but apparently all of this will be made official next week. We can’t wait. Can you?

will this cell be a mobile hot spot??? i need a cell with that feature.

    • Verizon Guy

Yes. This feature is also supported on Android 2.1 (current supported build.)

    • Tyler

The hot spot feature is part of the 2.2 froyo update not the device itself so if the phone is running 2.2 then yeah it’ll work.

    nice, beautiful song.

    but what about DROID 2?

  • ChocoTaco

I was hoping it would be 3 weeks earlier. I’m wishing my summer away waiting for this phone :)

It’s about freaking time. I’ve been a Verizon guy through the years mainly due to their excellent coverage/everyone elses lousy coverage. I was just about to send them their pink slip because of the way all the other carriers are hooking their customers up with sweet phones and Verizon has always been pushing their crap bricks.
Of course you can’t get it all… The Droid X will not have front facing camera nor radio. The Droid 2 will remain small as well as missing the ffcamera and radio.
Too bad the Dell Streak won’t be coming big red’s way either…
I can’t wait to send my pos Blackberry Curve to the recycle bin!

um…the Incredible has been out for a while. As well as the Moto Droid.

This phone may have an FM radio. I haven’t heard confirmation that there isn’t, and early information left open the possibility. It may even have HD radio…wouldn’t that be nice? Time will tell.

      @Millertime
Are you smoking crack? Verizon has two of the very best Droids on the market and two more top of the line phones coming in the next month or so.

Go check out the Droid phones at AT&T if you want to bitch about who carries what.

      • Millertime

Sorry, but for those who’ve beenaround these rumor sites for a while, you know we have been teased for a long time about bigger and better things coming from Verizon. The Droid to me was a letdown – when the rumors were that the release would be like the HD2. Then the Incredibull was weak too. Size matters!

how do you know it wont have front facing camera in one of the speculations I read the droid x will have front facing camera. Not sure about the radio But I wish they would find out more about thses specification on these phones . I was going to get the HTC incredible and I still might depending on specs of the droid x and droid 2

      • Electrofreak

I don’t see room for a front-facing camera on that bezel. They’re usually pretty small but you can usually make out a little circle about the size of a pencil eraser where a front-camera is located.

A month should hopefully give people enough time to buy pants that actually fit the X.

    Zing!

    • WalterSobchak

Maybe you should get an iphone, those fit into hipster skinny jeans perfect.

      • ChocoTaco

Ah, the great hypocrisy of counter-culture. Counter-culture: just like everyone else.

Grr, I just ordered the Incredible online this weekend. It’s slated to be here the week of the 12th.

Do you think I could take it into the Verizon store and get this instead?

    • WalterSobchak

I don’t think your 30 day return policy should start until you receive the phone.
This is assuming you didn’t return another phone to get the incredible, because you can only do one exchange.

My vote is yes. The benchmarks are considerably faster for the Droid X. It will be the fastest Android phone available not on Froyo. As a side note, I just updated my Moto Droid to Froyo and upped the CPU frequency to 800Mhz from 560Mhz and my Moto Droid is now the 3rd fastest Android phone behind Nexus One with Froyo and…. drumroll…. Droid X WITHOUT Froyo. I saw about a 200% speed increase with Froyo and another 75% with the 800Mhz.

I personally agree to take a leap and get a phone that you like now rather than wait for the next big thing. Being that every new android device will likely see froyo and beyond its the OS that is rocking on these phones. Motorola Droid here and definitely no quality issues. This phone is rock solid. I am sticking with old reliable till next year and watch what happens.

As far as the apparently market is concerned apple’s looks better and does have more apps. But all android needs is to clean things up. Better detailed category’s. And for the love of God…put sxreensavers and keyboard skins and themes out of all other categories. Lock that shit up in its own category never free to merge with the real apps. Just my opinion. Other than that I have all I need. Thanks Google

Question about the return policy for Verizon…I’m due for my upgrade at the end of July. If I get the HTC incredible and decide I dont like it within the 30 days can I then try one of new phones coming (Driod X or 2) and have that same 30 day return policy.

Put me in the category of people who have been a slave to the BB and are waiting for their contracts to come up so they can get something else. I’m overwhelmed with the new options out there now.

  • Woo

    i have the incredible and i want this… i’ve always been a motorola fan… i cant wait for this… omg… wowsers
