    cross game chat?

    • Jarrett

If HTC went out of business you would kill yourself? Just a question as to how serious your BGR name is.

      • Eric

You’re seriously asking how serious someone is about a screen name? You must take screen names pretty seriously. Maybe in the screen name business? A screen name entrepreneur perhaps? I got it. The screen name police. Undercover of course. Otherwise I would assume your screen name would be “screen name police”.

      Hilarious!

      Microsoft’s garbage online network:

      * Forced 50 dollar a year online fees just to be allowed to play online games

      * Laggy P2P based networking for games

      * Tiny online game sizes because of the outdated P2P networking

      * Developer hostile to game mods or free content because Microsoft doesn’t get a cut of it

But they add stupid features like talking to someone else who is playing a completely different game! Now all the fanboys seize on this single stupid feature to try to hype Microsoft’s crap online service!

Sony has been teaching Microsoft how to do online gaming right. Why can’t Microsoft learn from Sony:

      * Free online play for everyone – no idiotic fees

      * Standard dedicated servers for all major game for lagfree lan like smoothness

      * Epic player counts thanks to the standard dedicated servers

      * Open and PC like treatment of game mods and free content from developers

You couldn’t PAY Playstation owners to use a joke online service like Microsoft’s.

Lag free? Have you played Call of Duty???? Connection Interrupted. perhaps thats just my wifi though.. reply if it is.

      • Eric

No it definitely lags. MW2, MAG, even Little Big Planet.

        Call of Duty?

Thank Microsoft for the laggy online play from lack of dedicated servers.

If Microsoft wasn’t so desperate for something to replace those silly Halo games and was throwing giants wads of cash at the CoD guys gamers would have gotten decent games from them this gen.

Come out with a real next gen Call of Duty for the PS3 and PC. High end graphics, 20-25 gig BluRay or two or three DVDs that install onto your PC, standard dedicated servers, etc.

Then let some outside company downgrade the game to work on the 360′s wimpy graphics hardware, lack of standard harddrive, silly 7 gig disc format, and downgrade the networking to peer to peer.

They didn’t say one word about Cross-game chat. Seems to strictly be about content exclusives.

$50 a year for “beta invites, early access to demos, downloadable content and other exclusive perks”

    seriously?

    • Trey

Agreed, whats the difference between this a the Qore annual subscription? You get the same things right? If so, what now? You erase those perks? I need to just get a refund right now.

Not all bad. They should include service like Playon and it would be worth it now that they charge for the better content to get streamed to your PS3. Make it all one and I’m kewl with paying

    So GAP is officially dead?

  • SnakeEyez

I saw the conference, they do give you free PSN games and discounted prices on PSN content. While I won’t be getting it myself, I can see the incentive (if indeed the discounted prices are good).

At the end of the month, Sony will have a 3 month free subscription to everybody, basically to test drive it….Funny that it wasn’t mentioned on here.

  • Daedalus

$50 a month for stuff that most people won’t give two shits about.

And people say Microsoft is gouging people.

  • Daedalus

    Err a year, sorry!

  • http://ablogaboutvideogamesandtechnology.com/ TechDubDoob

Definitely smart on Sony’s part to make it optional, but I don’t exactly see what’s worth paying for. I guess it depends what “other exclusive perks” are.

  • TheBiggs

Well, nothing is changing for current users, so what’s the big deal. You’re not being REQUIRED to pay for the PSN+ service, and if you do, you get extra stuff. Again, WHAT’S THE BIG DEAL?
