Unlocked Canadian iPhones

Cheer up Canada. Sure, you can’t pre-order your iPhone 4 today, but you may end up with the last laugh. The Apple Store Canada is touting “commitment free” iPhones that are unlocked and ready to go on the carrier of your choice. The iPhone 4 is currently listed as “coming soon,” but an 8GB iPhone 3GS can be pre-ordered for $549 with shipping starting on June 24th. If you pay full-price for an unsubsidized phone it shouldn’t be locked to a carrier? What a novel idea Apple!

    You can also buy iPhones unlocked in the states. Not sure why anyone would… you *STILL* have to use AT&T.

      Or you could use T-Mobile.

      3G wouldn’t work, but Edge would work fine. But you do have an option, albeit a crappy one.

    To everyone from the USA, don’t worry, we still get screwed by the carriers. They just offer the plan for the same $h!tty price.

    Maybe if I become an unofficial ebay reseller to people in the US, I can afford to travel there and use a nice cheap pay as you go while I’m down there.
